Can we call it a den or a study instead? 'Man Cave' is right up there with 'bling-bling' as phrases that need to be put out to pasture. As soon as the term 'man cave' leaves your lips, I automatically assume you're the idiot that buys the "Man Cave" sign from Kirkland's to hang above the doorway to your room. Don't be that guy. Be the guy that has a den... or a study... no sign required.

I've always been a music junkie and I have a pretty decent collection of music.

The collection covers Blues going back to Charley Patton, Bessie Smith and Blind Lemon Jefferson on up through Blues and Blues-Rock of today. Name a Blues or Blues-Rock musician and chances a very good that I have an album of theirs. I've never counted them, but if I had to guess I'd say the number is over 1,000. Probably 500 on physical CDs. More than that on digital download albums.

I have collected silver coins since I was a kid. Mostly US but also some Marks, Crowns and Pesos. My sisters and I have a complete set of Indian Head quarter and half eagles all graded MS-63 except for the 1909O half eagle which is MS-62. My father had been collecting them over the years for us.

Hats - well over a hundred of them now. From various high schools where I've watched football, work related from safety awards and customers to vendors that we buy equipment from, a shitload of UK hats and several other hats from other colleges & universities I've been to over the years. Got a hat from Sedona, AZ that has it's color from the dirt there.

Ticket stubs. I have virtually every stub (missing one) from every UK basketball/football game I've ever attended as well as all my MLB/NBA/NFL games. My stubs from the '96, '98 & '12 national championships are framed in the UK room.

Poker chips from each casino where I've played hold 'em. All are $1 chips with the exception of places from overseas (London, Macao, etc.)

Airline amenity kits given to first/business class passengers on international flights. While I don't have every one, I've hung onto probably a dozen or so from my most memorable flights (Singapore Suites Class, Emitrates, Etihad, Lufthansa & Cathay Pacific First, etc.)

Derby glasses. 1948, 3-4 from the 1950's, and 1960-Present.

Cats' Pause Yearbooks. Have every year except 1981-82.

Tons of old baseball/basketball/football cards, but no longer a collector.

Legal, there is a antique shop in the Flea Land flea market here in BG, they have all kinds of the older derby glasses. I would be willing to bet you can find the ones you are missing. Some are $2-3 some are $20-25 for the bigger ones. Like the Secretariat glass is a bit expensive compared to others.

About the only thing I collect is shot glasses and beer huggers from different vacation spots. When I go to a beach or know someone is going, I pick up a hugger for cans and bottles. Have about 30-40 different ones from beaches in Florida, and other places. Same with shot glasses. Have t-shirts as well.

You really suck at this, but hey coming from a kack lover, I can understand you sucking and all.

Beach vacation shirts??? You actually collect beach vacation shirts??? [laughing] What are you, a 12 year old girl?

Do you really think BVSs are a step up from pimping a buddy's t-shirt business, and then getting butt-hurt when GYEROians didn't email you en masse to buy them?

Big fat gubment money checks.
Obama phones
EBT cards
Medical cards

Real answer: Original pressings of vintage rock/metal albums that have since been remastered to sound "modern" aka ******.

Used to collect baseball cards in 80s and 90s, soooo I have tons of worthless cardboard photos of steroid-ridden athletes.

I've got some bobble heads/Funko Pops I collect. I'm a sucker for those.

I used to be a big movie collector until streaming made that kind of worthless.

I've thought about getting into collecting old maps, yet it seems like a slippery slope with a bunch of money involved.

i kind of feel like eBay and the Internet has ruined collecting things.
  1. The exciting part about doing it was how difficult it was to find the artifacts. Now that's just a click away.
  2. Identifying market rate was also cool; again, now the price is basically set on line.
  3. I used to think I had some rare stuff. The. The Internet came along and apparently everybody else has the same 1966 Pete Rose.

I've thought about getting into collecting old maps, yet it seems like a slippery slope with a bunch of money involved.

It would have been a fabulous thing to begin collecting as recently as a couple of decades ago, but has surged in interest worldwide largely due to the internet. One of the best collections in North America is in a obscure location, an old post office building in Halls, Tn. The reasons for that is quite a story in itself. Maps since around 1860 are not worth as much money due to shift in production techniques, would not recommend "investing" in just any civil war map. Today, persons who find themselves in possession of antique altas publications can make small fortunes by selling the individual sheets.
