Not that I remember.......my friend lives in Baton Rouge.......when we go down he takes us to the good places......I have an aunt and cousins that live in Layfayette...same with them.......I have eaten at a lot of great places in their area......my buddy has the place in Ville Platt that I spend a lot of money to have his sausages and meats shipped overnight..........I do remember a place called the Magnolia Cafe in St Francesville, LA....and Louisianna Lagniappe Resturaunt.....we ate at a little hole in the wall across the river from Baton Rouge.....my buddy said to not let the ambiance or lack there of to scare us......we had been seated about 10 minutes on a really busy day......the waitress asked us if we minded company.,.....it was the sheriff and one of his friends.........had a great meal and heard some funny stories about Baton Rouge's dumber citizens........my buddy's father designed some of the bigger buildings on LSU's campus......he has season tickets and has offered to fly us down to watch a UK game.......but only in seasons he things the Tigers can win.......
awf is channeling some fierce Joe Biden.
Would love to try an Indian Buffet. We pass an Indian place in Huntington WV when we go to Red Lobster, but have never worked up the nerve to try it. I'm not an adventurous eater, if I can"t tell what's in a dish, I don't usually eat it.And I feel a little safer at an Indian buffet because the clientele seems a bit different. Like the people you worry about at Golden Corral or even your local Chinese buffet haven’t developed a taste for Indian
When I started working in the office the guys would go to Morrisons and some other places every day......after about a month of eating lunch like that every day I had an allergic reaction........my waist line started growing exponentially..............I had to start opting out of their lunches and coming home to eat sensibly........No, I don't. Not out of sanitary concerns or anything else, I just don't. I remember going to Ryan's as a kid, where was that in Lexington? I feel like it was by the Red Mile but that doesn't seem right.
I'll tell you what I miss is Morrison's in Lexington Green. Loved going there and then going and picking out books afterwards. Then hopping over to Willis Music and test driving instruments.
My folks and grandparents would always take me there as a kid, would've been late 80s and 90s. Also miss Tony Roma's,no idea if the ribs were actually worth a damn but I loved them as a kid. When I started working in the office the guys would go to Morrisons and some other places every day......after about a month of eating lunch like that every day I had an allergic reaction........my waist line started growing exponentially..............I had to start opting out of their lunches and coming home to eat sensibly........
There was also Miller's Cafeteria on 2nd street between Chestnut and Walnut........I had done remodeling at Miller's a couple of times over the years.......every time I went there to eat.........the lady that owned it would always inquire if I knew where she could find a cheap carpenter.......I always replied that it was the same place as a $2.00 plate lunch was........... it was about $5 bucks to eat there then.......My folks and grandparents would always take me there as a kid, would've been late 80s and 90s. Morrisons was the only place I'd eat green Jello. For whatever reason I liked theirs

I don't remember that place. Yes! I thought so. Close to where Central Equipment is now, right? Closer to Versailles Rd intersection than Broadway? There was indeed a Ryan’s on red mile
Sirloin Stockade in Murray. But You have to wear gloves to get the food from the buffet. Used to be they had to get it for You, but the last time we were there gloves were provided at the end of the buffet. Great place to eat, but I can't eat like I could when I was in my twenties and thirties!Even prior to Covid it seems disgusting to me to eat the food that a dozen croc wearing slobs have stuck their hands in. It isn't as bad if it's a place that has all you can eat but they bring it from the kitchen like Sonny's BBQ but I just can't do places like Golden Corral.
My grandparents loved those Shoneys breakfast buffets but hated Cracker Barrel. I remember once when I was a kid we stopped on the way to the beach and I wanted to stop at Cracker Barrel. My grandpa spent the whole time complaining. "Sawmill gravy? Who would want to eat that?!"I miss Shoney's breakfast buffet. Was always a treat Subday morning after church as a kid back in the 80s. Especially their melon and cantaloupe slices. Don't know why I remember those as bring standout, but they were
I hope I can one day ascend to this level. There's a buffet near Myrtle Beach named Simply Southern Smokehouse that is highly recommended. The line is usually an hour long for dinner. Wonderful down-home food.
Last dinner buffet I can recall is the one in the casino on the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls ~3 years ago. Extremely underwhelmed.
Now a good BREAKFAST buffet, I will go for that most any time. Frisch's breakfast bar has been slipping in recent years, though.
And as an aside I wear crocs just about every d@mn day. Not the garish rubbery ones, but the crocs slip-on loafers like the Crocs Walu slip-ons. I don't like to wear socks any more, I have 4 pairs of these Crocs in different colors to coordinate with my clothes. Very comfortable and they last forever.
Who the hell doesn't love some Barrel action? Biscuits and gravy for breakfast there are the best thing about road trips and vacations. My grandparents loved those Shoneys breakfast buffets but hated Cracker Barrel. Or descend, depending on your perspective. It's not hard though. Just stop giving an eff and do whatever the hell you please.I hope I can one day ascend to this level.

Absolutely love Cracker Barrel pancakes but their biscuits and gravy are awful. I was raised on breakfast gravy made from bacon grease poured on homemade bisquick biscuits so my standards are way too high to eat those in a restaurant.Who the hell doesn't love some Barrel action? It never made any sense to me. They'd eat waffle house and any random local dive. Loved wendys chili and big macs. but for some reason they felt they were above cracker barrelWho the hell doesn't love some Barrel action? Their gravy has a spice in it that i don’t like. can’t put my finger on what is but don’t like it. bob evans much better, also has good grits.Absolutely love Cracker Barrel pancakes but their biscuits and gravy are awful. Biscuits biscuits are not elite. Sorry.Absolutely love Cracker Barrel pancakes but their biscuits and gravy are awful. I was raised on breakfast gravy made from bacon grease poured on homemade bisquick biscuits so my standards are way too high to eat those in a restaurant.
Some of the greatest country cooking women that have ever lived are in my family and they all make biscuits with bisquick. The key is the gravy that goes on them from bacon grease, flour, and a little milk for the gravy. Pure heaven.Biscuits biscuits are not elite. Sorry.
WinchellsI like gravy without sausage chunks in it but haven’t found any place that serves it that way.
Bisquick is cheating. I don't make the rules. I also have a mom, and my grandmother when she was with us, who are excellent country cooks from out in the hollers. Some of the greatest country cooking women that have ever lived are in my family and they all make biscuits with bisquick. It isn't about getting sick as much as it is that fat dude before me may have went and dropped a load to make room for more food, wiped his crack, didn't wash his hands and then come back out for 2nd's, 3rd's or 4th's. I don't care about eating anything that may have his feces on it but you do you. Some of you guys are really gay. Food is good. All you can eat is awesomeness. Worried about getting sick shows most of you don't know how disgusting you are are yourselves..
