Do you expect us expect us to beat Vanderbilt?

I know umm is expecting us to blow them out with is a pipe dream he's been token on for too long. In your opinion do we beat vandy? I fully believe we can beat them, I'm just curious as to what you think will happen today? I think we beat them, but it will be a hard fought game and we need to make plays and score tds. We can't spend the whole game killing the clock and hoping vandy doesn't control TOP. If they do that we will lose in my opinion. What say you?

If Kentucky plays with the new effort they've shown, I expect a win in a low scoring game.

If UK plays like they did against South Carolina and Alabama they should win. I feel as if UK earned some respect especially against Alabama, as I expected them to not even try and just give up before the game started, but they didn't.

By middle of yr 4 against a not-so-great Vandy team, I expect a win.

But I think the game is actually a coin flip. To me it comes down to 2 things: how much can UK stop the run and how much can UK score?

I think it will be a toss up. For UK to win turnovers must not happen at the rate they have been. Is the defense as improved as it seems the last 2 weeks? Who knows, i guess we will find out in a few hours

I also think it will be a pretty even match but have the feeling that we will win this one today. Being home helps and I like the improved effort I've seen lately. How tough Vandy played Florida does have me concerned though, I admit.

If Gran can find ways to give us points with all these weapons, we might stand a chance. Up until now, the play calls have been good imo. Execution not so much.

Yes!

We are much better on paper.

We are at home.

It is our turn.

We must win if this coaching staff wants to be here next year.

In the modern era, the foundation of a winning season for UK is to beat the 3 non-power 5 schools and to beat Vandy. Out of the remaining 8 games on our schedule, we only have to beat 2 to reach a crappy bowl or 3 to have a winning season and a little bit better bowl. I know that isn't asking a lot but it is something that we fail to do more often than not.

UK by a FG. Vandy's LBs are very good which could cause problems in the running game. Asking Johnson to win a game is a big task.

We gave away a blow out win last year.

I'd like to see us blow them out, the opportunity is there but I expect a low scoring, one or two score win mainly due to our quarterback play.

The Vandy coach is fighting for his job so I expect his players to be fired up. I think they want this game and come in confident. I hope our team wants it also. If we do, we win. If not we lose. Flip a coin

I expect the Cats to win in a close one. If we blow them out I will take that as a very good sign for the remainder of the season.

It could go either way. Just like USCjr, it will come down to execution and who gets a couple breaks. 4 years in and we're still iffy on the Vandy game. Good lord that's depressing

Conflicting thoughts on this question!

Generally speaking, any time we play Vandy I expect a win simply because year in and year out we should be better than Vandy.

Nevertheless, with this coaching staff I have learned through experience to never expect anything!

Yes, I expect us to win. The team seems to be together this year. No locker room divide.

We play a Vandy team that lost at home to the worst offense in the SEC, was destroyed by Georgia Tech, won vs WKU because of a dropped pass that hit the receiver in the face on a 2 point conversion in OT, and beat Middle Tennessee.

In year 4 why do we even have to ask this question?

If you would have asked this after the NM State game I would have said no way. Now I'm 50/50. If we play like we did against USCjr and the first half of Bama, then yes. However, I need to see more to start believing this isn't fool's gold.

Ultimately I am leaning fool's gold and think we lose 21-10.

I was watching SEC network last night, they give Vandy a 55% chance of winning.I really don't see where they come up with that,(Vegas sees it the other way) they say that Mason has talked about throwing deep or"splash" plays all week and that UK has expected that and planned for it all week.I don't see how that makes sense either,Webb is their bread and butter, their QB is coming off an eye injury and wearing a shield for the first time.Do you think Mason is saying one thing while planning something else?

Vandy has a couple of decent LB's but Johnson in space with an option to run or pass should give them problems + they will have to account for Boom and/or Snell. I like the Cats in this one, especially at home and with so much on the line.

Our defense has shown improvement over the past 2 weeks,I expect that to continue. Some of the young guys seem to understand how they need to play and the addition of Kg Daniel gives another big body along the front.

Yes I expect to win..
1. We've smoked Vandy in recruiting..so we should have a talent advantage.
2. Mason is a good defensive coach...but nothing creative to take advantage of our D (that silly sideline TD play was goofy IMO...but it won't happen again)
3. We've got a solid running game and Boom should get his hands on plenty of chances and I think he makes multiple big plays which should be the difference in the game.
4. The major issue I see is we're a TO machine right now and we can';t have that v.s Vandy., I very conservative gameplan is what I hope to see with Johnson taking care of the ball better...don't give anything easy to Vandy I think even our defense can hold them intact.
5. If Vandy tries "big plays"...i don't see it happening. UK has good CBs and Vandy doesn't have a great WR. Also, UK can rush the passer with Ware/Allen on the edges...so I hope they try to throw at us...that would be a mistake IMO. I'd try to run at UK and play action against our not so great LBer core in pass coverage.

I thank the game is pretty even, I thank if Ky plays well we should win, this this Ky team you never know..
It's a pretty even game, but there are contrasts. Vandy is a solid, respectable defensive team with an inept offense. Kentucky is 2nd tier, offensively and defensively, but both units are improving by the week. For a change, Kentucky has better special teams. Kentucky is the home team. Vandy already lost to South Carolina in Nashville, and that was before their quarterback got hurt. So this game shapes up as a likely Kentucky win, with the winner scoring in the 20s. But football game outcomes usually hinge on game prep, turnovers, and explosive plays. If Kentucky is well prepared, they won't lose a home game against a team as flawed as Vandy. A lot of this rests on DJ Eliot, who is on the hot seat IMO. Another thing. Today we find out what Steve Johnson is made of. With Barker out indefinitely, Johnson is our quarterback. He was terrible last week, but there were extenuating circumstances on the road in Tuscaloosa. If Johnson bounces back at home this week, then Kentucky could be headed for 5-6 wins. But if Johnson tanks against Vandy, then this season goes south and everything is in question.

Like Blue Decade said there are several reasons why UK should win this one,if they don't things go south in a hurry for the rest of the year. This has to be tough on a young team(being this much under the gun every week) If we get this one then we have a week off to work on stuff and maybe have a better shot at Miss St.

If Vandy goes the big play route against our defense instead of running the ball, I think this could be Stoops and company's coming out party. We have superior talent on offense and only need to spread it around enough to keep the Vandy defense honest. If they play us straight up we should win most snaps. It will be to Vandy's advantage to grind it out and make it a low scoring affair where a couple of turnovers or big plays can decide the game. If we score more than 24 points, I think we win easily.

whoever can capitalize on the other teams mistakes will win.

Hope that is the Cats, we need this game BAD! Becomes pretty much impossible to get to 6 without this one.

Would really love to see Stephen Johnson have a huge game today.
