Do you guys think Allar is an NFL QB?

He’s not going to be a high draft pick, but yeah, he has all the physical traits that NFL scouts/coaches love - big, strong arm, mobile enough, tough. He’s just missing something to make the next step that either our staff can’t give him or maybe he doesn’t have.

He has a lot to improve on to be a starter in the NFL. He will get drafted because of his size and arm. My guess is he is a career backup that stays a good chunk of years in the NFL based on his physical traits.

Due to the complications of his injury ans subsequent rehab, he likely will be a day 3 pick or UDFA. A couple of articles I read today even stated this. From 1st round pick to maybe not even drafted.

At best, I can see him following a path similar to that of Carson Wentz.
Numerous teams willing to take a chance based on “potential”.
But, only “the shadow knows” for sure.

Wait...are you claiming Wentz hasn't been successful? He's surely not elite but he started about 100 games with a winning record. Are you an Eagles fan that is mad he didn't live up to expectations? lol

Maybe. Everyone says he has the physical talent. He rarely showed the ability to carry a team to victory against opponents with comparable talent.
Successful quarterbacks need that "it" factor of being able to gather players around them and carry them to victory. Unfortunately for Allar his team was coached by a man with a demonstrable lack of big game success, no matter who the quarterback has been.

I’m a Jets fan and he seems like Hackenberg 2.0

Very concerned that our incompetent front office and coaching staff will fall in love with his “traits”

Am I missing something with him?

I hope Drew makes it. He always played his hardest and deserved better. Just not a fit for what Franklin was trying to do (microcosm of this entire team/staff) and who was too stubborn to do otherwise. Hope he recovers and gets a shot at a place who would use his skillset.

This is 100% true
Franklin put himself first and played on Drew's loyalty to con him into returning.
Dumb decision by Drew. Hopefully he learned from it. Singleton too.
All they did was prove they don’t belong in the league.

Does not seem to affect KAllen. Despite the fact that Franklin has screwed him over.

He has the tools and he definitely has the physical attributes. My only question mark is his mental toughness in high pressure situations. All the greats (too many to list) always stepped up when it mattered most, I’m not sold that Allar is there yet.

Undrafted free agent that ends up on a practice squad

Maybe with some decent coaching he can work his way on to a roster as a back up eventually

No. What a bunch of bull. So a total of 12 receivers for drew were all garbage. lol.
I think drew peaked last year. I don’t see him being drafted very high or ever really starting for a period of time for any nfl team. I do hope he fully recovers and takes the time to
Recover from breaking his ankle.

50% winning percentage of games started, with a loss in his only playoff game.
Mediocre at best.
I can flip a coin and win half the time, but I wouldn’t call it successful.

That's still success...in the NFL to start over 100 games and still be in the league at this stage of his career is a successful career. What do you think is successful?
You dont have to be Brady or Elway to have a successful career...

No, he’s not. He’ll be a free agent brought in as a camp arm. He may be put on a practice squad, but that’s about it. Will Howard was a 6th round pick, and he was like Dan Marino in college compared to Allar.

If we’re honest with ourselves, despite not being given great coaching and receivers, he just was a sevicible qb at best and definitely not a game changer. For every 2023 Maryland game or 2024 USC game, he had twice as many duds. Throwing INTs to effectively lose the ND and both Oregon games, and even the absurd Int yesterday, are just prime examples of not having “it.”

Seems as if his mechanics still collapse when the game gets critical. I'd like to see him succeed, but he'd need a much better QB coach than we've given him. He's got the fire, but then seems to go into a funk after he makes a mistake

Actually, it is not. Drew always wanted to come back to Penn State. His own words. He absolutely loves college and Penn State. His family, and his agent advised him to come back for his senior year to further develop his game and his athleticism.

So this isn't true per BWI staff and other sources. Not true at all. His agent and family both encouraged him to enter the draft.

Beau was aware and it was Franklin that convinced Drew to stay which is why Beau reacted how he did.

I would love to see those articles. Drew's own words. Also, to my knowledge, Drew's family never spoke openly regarding the draft. If you can find an article claiming that, I'm all ears.

The best thing for 15 is he goes in the late rounds to a McVay. Remember, he hasn’t been taught anything since hs

personally I’m rooting for him hard
Everyone who is a PSU fan should be rooting for him. He worked and played his butt off his entire time at PSU. He bled blue and white and was loyal to the program. He was the leader this year in the decision of numerous draft eligible prospects to return for their senior year. Unfortunately, neither he nor the returning seniors developed or performed as expected this year. He also appears to be a great person. For the foregoing reasons, I wish him nothing but success and will be a fan of his for his entire NFL career.

I do not rule out the possibility that Drew's problem was coaching or scheme related. I also do not rule out the possibility that the problem with Allar could be between the ears. Just because he has all of the objective measurables and can make every throw that is expected of an NFL QB does not guarantee success. While Drew had tremendous success in a lot of games (you need to look no further than his statistics), when we needed him to perform the most in big games or when the game was on the line, his performance did not measure up to greatness. I never felt confident with the ball in his hands when the game was on the line. I do not know whether that "it" factor can be coached.

I live only 30 miles from Drew’s hometown and family and it was 100% his and his family’s decision to come back. He loves Penn State and felt it was a great opportunity to win a championship and in process help him improve his draft status.

Not an article...confirmed by staff. Tom and his staff is welcome to share that as well if they want. Do you really think any player is ever going to say "coach talked me into returning even though no one else agreed with him I stayed"
