If so you need to check this stuff out. Perfect salinity, perfect crunch and it is produced in Kanawha county.. Made my boy some pop corn for the game last night and used this as the salt. Excellent. I highly recommend this product..

That's a really cool story.

I'll be looking for it next time I'm in charleston. Plus I want to learn more about the ancient ocean and salt production in West Virginia.

Nice, BCM! I use it a lot, and will definitely try this.

Salt was one of the very first things that brought European people to what is now West Virginia. Salt works on the Kanawha River had importance in the geo-politics of the 17th Century, and the jockeying between Great Britain and France that took place in the general region. Of course, back then salt was basically the substitute for refrigeration, which didn't exist.

What oil do you use for your popcorn? It's pretty much the only reason I have coconut oil the cabinet.

I knew there was a brine well back of Marmet, but I didn't know anyone was making salt up that way.

You can't drill a well in that region and not hit brine. You've got to get below brine layer to get good water.

BTW, does it have a reddish hue? Kanawha Red salt was known and preferred across the country before the Civil War.
