Do You Still Use Computers At Home?

I just don't need the computing power of a laptop or PC much anymore. I mainly only use my laptop for taxes and storing all my music, pictures, and videos on as a backup. So much quicker and easier for me to carry around my tablet to play games and play around on the internet from the comforts of my couch, toilet, or bed. Plus it is so easy to stream content from my tablet or phone to my TV these days. Maybe if I ever get a job that requires a lot of work around computers or I go back to school, then I might buy another laptop/PC.

How incrementally do you need to upgrade the same PC?

How quickly does technology change? Programs take more space in storage and more processing power.
A tablets don't match the power of a PC to multitask and touch screens suck for typing long blocks of words.
If all you do is play Pokemon, connect with all the "friends" on Facebook and stream some porn then a tablet would be all you need.

Yeah, I get that. How often do you upgrade the same box until you just start over?

It is relative to how much you wish to spend. You can buy the newest hardware, barebones or the more bang for the buck.
At the heart of it, buy a good power supply, motherboard and CPU barring a failure they can last for a years. A CPU can last 20-30 years but would be obsolete. Tablet may last 4 years for a niche device.
As for how many times you upgrade would be once or twice, but that's not a total rebuild. Just extra ram , a vid card, or the damn hard drive than I had to replace.

Something interesting, to me at least, I had a subscription to the LHL, they sucked me in with that 99 cent deal last basketball season, but anyway, I cancelled about two months ago and it took them about a month to stop it on my laptop but I still get it on my tablet. I love free stuff.

I have a ****** $250 HP laptop primarily for fapping and posting on forums where I type several long-winded paragraphs at a time. I hate writing blocks of text on a touch screen. I have fat fingers. I hate autocorrect. And it feels like work.

I also have a cheap LG tablet that was a gift from a relative that pretty much sits in the *******. Use my iphone for anything else.

I have 4 laptops and two desktops. Also Sophos UTM modem running on a desktop, and a Kali Linux laptop for pen-testing/network hacking.. if that counts.

Granted, I work in IT..

But I will agree, I seem to do so much more by my smartphone. Shopping, Web-browsing, music, Banking.. you name it.
