I thought maybe one of their third-string helicopters would blow away a few tailgates in spectacular fashion, then never see the air during the season.

Pretty sure Tailgaters knew this would be an easy victory and did not want to potentially risk injury....or incarceration....before the season. So, keep it close to the grill, nothing fancy, just run out the pre-game clock, and move on to another game.
