Do you think any staff members are fired tomorrow?

Stoops obviously isn't gonna be fired now. But does Eliot end up canned tomorrow? Or Schlarman?

Nobody will be fired during the season. I predict Stoops officially takes over the defensive play calling going into the Vandy game with a 1-4 record.

Yes. I believe Eliot will be fired tomorrow. From a coaching perspective, it's got to change. I cannot see Stoops keeping the status quo. There is major heat coming his and Mitch's way, so I expect a firing to try and calm the storm.

How either of those guys keep their job is simply amazing. If these were sales guys they would be at about 50% of their quota (and that's being generous). Somebody needs to get fired to give me some reason to even be remotely optimistic about the remainder of the season. If our plan is to stick with what we are doing for the remainder of the year then I honestly have no interest in watching.

I do have a very close connection to Mitch, but in this instance, I don't have any solid info
I hope you're right that some changes are done tomorrow. Its unrealistic to see Stoops canned this early, but I think Eliot almost has to be fired.

highly unlikely...but i could see some reassigning...

CMS could very well take over the D...maybe if he focused solely on D he'd leave the offense alone and everybody would be better off...

if he doesn't want to fire his buddy outright, i could see him giving DJ a new title/role within the program...

schlarman is on his way out...no ties to cms and his OL may be worse than DJ's D...

Brumbaugh is not far behind...

and whomever is in charge of conditioning, strength training, etc...needs to be reevaluated as well...it seems our whole squad has a quarter maybe 2 max of decent football in them and then they hit a wall...and in the swamp it was like they'd never experienced heat before when a dozen of them are from florida...

Stoops made more money coaching the first half of last week's game than most of us will make this entire year. Think about that for a second. Him and Mormon Mitch are going to make any and every excuse possible and create whatever scapegoat they have to in order to keep the gravy train rolling, I know I would if I were in their shoes. They're riding the gravy train on biscuit wheels right now and it would be crazy not to keep the golden goose laying eggs. They're currently sipping on a bourbon and coke, and smoking cigars in the back of their new Escalades while they preach to us about patience. Meanwhile Stoops' agent is sitting in a hot tub in Brazil with bottle service and beautiful women laughing at how easy it was to get the most ridiculous contract in the history of college football past Mormon Mitch.

In an alternate universe Mormon Mitch is sitting at his ranch in Kansas reading about Joseph Smith and we have Lamar Jackson leading a top-10 team.

So Elliot gets canned and then Stoops takes over the D? Just a hunch...the D will suck equally as bad and then what?
I get your point, they very well may still stink, but something needs to change. I'm not sure it could look any worse.

Well that's why I think nothing will happen until seasons end. Elliot will be the scapegoat and Stoops sure is running out of them. No sense in Stoops exposing his own incompetence until the seasons over.

Is there a presser tomorrow that I'm unaware of or is this just purely conjecture from a fan?

Looked it up on Twitter to no avail.

Stoops and Mitch will wait until season's end to start creating scapegoats. They're not dumb. They know they've got to do some kind of spin job to keep their pocket books nice and fat.

I think you are probably right. Its pretty safe to say UK doesn't want to eat the 12m buyout and if the DC is let go tomorrow and things don't turn around in a big way who will be let go in Dec? The OC has been let go 2-3 times with no noticable change. Someone has to be a scapegoat if things continue and how many times can it be the OC?

Now I won't be surprised if privately Stoops doesn't take over the DC duties this week, this would allow his buddy to stay on the staff until the end of the season and time to be looking for another gig. If they are that close. Mark Richt was told to get rid of Willie Martinez as our DC or both were gone, WIllie was a part of Richt's wedding so they were pretty close.

But supposing Elliot is let go tomorrow, is there anyone on UK's support staff that can step in and fill his position as an on the field coach or would UK be short a coach the rest of the season. It would be pretty tough getting someone who already has a job right now.

I agree that is probably the plan. UK football fans (me included) have been gullible for many years but I don't think it going to fly this time. They won't be able to give away tickets next years if Mark Stoops is retained as coach.

I'm right there with ya man. I fall for the cliches as hard as anyone. I love UK football so much that I fall for it every time and hope that things will be different this time around. I think that's the definition of insanity, but oh well.

If you're talking about me I'm just asking. No presser unless I missed something

That's what I was wondering.

I was actually hopeful. I think the only thing that could save Stoops now is him taking control of the defense from Eliot and switching some coaches around.

I've tried to like Schlarman, but even if he's a good coach, he isn't a guy Gran brought in. I'd rather have someone on the same page with our schemes.

Moreover, if Eliot goes, I think a lot of the issues on defense would diminish. We'd still be bad, but at least we'd scheme like we've got a brain. Maybe.

Elliot should've been fired last week. It'll happen soon, that'll be the sacrifice to appease the crowd short term.

Otherwise, there will be fans lined up outside with pitchforks.

Hell, it might even appease the crowd in the long run. Depends on how much freedom Stoops gives Eliot. If we stopped blitzing USM and were totally unprepared against Florida because Stoops has let his buddy Eliot have his reign, then Stoops might be able to salvage something. Lord knows.

I hope so. Alcohol isn't the solution in this case, but neither is our defense.

If there is a presser my guess is that it would be announced early tomorrow anyway. Maybe not all hope is lost. We will see.

I don't think the defense will improve by removing Elliot imo.

Elliot, yeah he's bad, but he's just the curtain thats hiding the wizard here. The defensive studs at FSU masked Stoops shortcomings most likely as well, but being a DC is all Stoops knows! That's what he prides himself in and no way he's been giving Elliot free reign with the D.

Look, they worked side by side at FSU and I can't for a second believe that Elliot has been planning, scheming, and making adjustments on defense independently from Stoops. If a player on that defense goes and takes a piss, both coaches know about it and it has both their stamps of approval all over it.

Ever notice that we played our best defense the last several years when we mix up blitz packages? It caused 3 INT in the first half of the USM game..........and yet from there on out its been a bend but dont break game plan.....
