Like timo said yes. Chris Collins used to frequent message boards as an assistant and even had a fake handle on DBR or Scout. Recruits get on boards. There was a school that had a recruit who openly posted as themselves before committing to another school partially because of the conduct of the members of the board in the mid-2000's. AAU coaches are reading these boards, high school, grass roots, etc. It's one of those things.

I believe a few years ago on the insider board here, we had a high school coach posting who told us to reign in what we were saying because it was rubbing a recruit the wrong way. Hell even Marshall and Mason Plumlee's coach posted here before, during and after their commitments. Let us know that the boys read what we said then too. Those were all good things though.;)

I've longed believed hof coach roy williams is a thr poster. He brought up a comment about his ugly ties a few years ago during a press conference. It was the same year when I was commenting about his ugly ties He said he didn't care what anyone thought about his ugly ties . (paraphrasing) OFC

Not sure if you're talking about Kenny Dennard, but it has been said he reads AND posts here from time to time.

I can't help but feel like, if I were a player, curiosity wouldn't get the best of me and venture to some boards and see what's being said.

if parents read (which I'm sure they do) I'm sure they have thick enough skin that they can handle criticism of little johnny. If not they shouldn't read

No real difference between boards, facebook, twitter etc. in my opinion. Just so much out there these days, you have to be pretty disciplined to block it all out.

I'm not sure any parent has thick enough skin to see their kids name sometimes drug through the mud. Yes, I get that it happens, but that doesn't mean it's right. I don't know whether you have kids or not, but if you do, I'd imagine it would upset you.

Sort of building off this, I think sharing any opinion on any player is fair game on a team message board, but how that opinion is expressed is what's significant. So saying something like "I think we have better options at the 4 spot than Player X" or "Player X isn't quick enough to defend this particular assignment, better go with Player Y here" is a lot different than "Man, Player X sucks! Why does he even get any minutes?!".

If my son or daughter are good enough to play at a major D one level I wouldn't give two craps what a message board said about them.

That's easy to say now....but you would. I'm kind of assuming you're not a parent now. And for the record, I'm not just talking message boards...there's social media, crazy fans at games, publications, blogs, etc.

I have two adult children. I would not read a message board to see what people were saying. No way.

I would care about what the people around them - in the program - thought of them. I don't really want to hear what outsiders say about my son. But, I do have occasion to speak with people where he works and am proud when I hear a number of positive thoughts expressed by those who work alongside him. Outside of that, I'd have no interest.

I told you guys Laettner was a regular. Hey Laett. do you ever try posting over at RR or have you already been banned from there. If they do let you post over there would you ask them what they hate you more for. The stomp or the shot. ;) OFC

No RR for me, don't want my reading level to dip with the drivel written there.
