I'm actually a little more "old school" when it comes to bowl games and think it's bullsh*t how many players sit out, especially now that they're getting paid. That being said, given the shift the program is making, the upcoming bowl game is at the very, very bottom of the list of priorities.
So your son is projected top 10 in April draft (12 mil to 30 mil guaranteed) anc you want him to play in yankee stadium v Auburn? Ridiculousness

My goodness, you're second sentence answers your own question. A coach who lacks demand elsewhere would find a contract of this structure attractive. If your alternatives are limited, which would you go for? Position coach at 750K or head coach with a 5 year 30 million contract with a guaranteed 10 million. Especially if you have a personal professional goal of someday being a head coach.
He's not going to accept the job at less the going rate. That's simply disrespectful. No coach is going to do that. He'll follow CJF where he's being shown he's wanted.

Using your logic...no HC should he paid highly

But if he was bro is my point

What does it matter if he's someone's bro? The kid's not going top 10.

Hey, it's never too late ...

Test of English as a Foreign Language ... you study for that intensively for ... say ... 5-10 years, and before you know it, you might be able to converse in English.

I kind of expect he would use the "you can have me for cheaper" sales pitch. How much cheaper, I don't know, but certainly cheaper than some hired gun off the market. I still wouldn't recommend PSU going for it unless of course, it's down to Al Golden. Still on the fence about Fitzgerald, but certainly not Al Golden.

If he does, I'm ever more against hiring him.
Why would we want "a cheap option" or someone that sees themselves that way? I want someone that believes they're the best and deserve to be paid like it.
Golden isn't in play. I doubt Patty Fitz is but Patty >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Terry Smith.

So would I. In fact, that scenario, Meyer as HC and Hartline (assume that's the OC in training at OSU) as OC was exactly what I wanted. I suspect that's why the noise about Hartline dropped off recently.

As far as the interview, if Meyer came off as "above needing an interview," that's probably what deep-sixed him. But this isn't the boss interviewing someone for a middle-manager job. I don't think Kraft is the easiest guy to work for, and he had just gone through an apparently rough parting with Franklin. I suspect that might be why a lot of candidates have popped up and then dropped off the radar.

I wonder, if it wasn't Penn State, would even Terry Smith want to work for Kraft?

Franklin was fired with 2 months left in the season. It was always going to be rampant speculation with flavor of the week candidates to keep the news cycle going. Everyone knew there was never going to be an announcement before the regular season ended at the soonest

No, I said 10 wins is the floor, not the ceiling. I mean if we can win 10 or more with Franklin, then anybody we hire regardless of roster should be able to win 10.
Franklin wasn’t going to win 10 next year if he was still around. Everyone reasonable was ready to accept it with this year’s “glory”. We know how that went.

He would have absolutely been expected to win 10 next year with the crappy schedule so many on here always say we have especially with no OSU on it.
