It seems like Illinois has a mandatory, Bernie Sanders like, everybody gets a trophy style all-conf/state team process that blurs competition and ensures no one is offended.
I grew up on the USA Today style, 1st Team, 2nd team, 3rd team, honorable mention structure that created separation and acknowledgement. It seems like all-conf and all-state teams in Illinois take the the top names regardless of position and lump them into a single "All-category" team.
I seem to remember over the last couple of years seeing 10 RBs, 8 QBs, 4 DBs, 6 LBs and 3 OL and 3 DL all into one team.
Does anyone around here do an 11O/11D member structure for their all-conference/state teams?
