Does anyone want to talk PSU FB? Here's a topic, % wise, will Penn State win the National Championship?

That would be a disappointing outcome, I think.

If we accept the narrative that PSU is better this year than they were last year, but they get bumped out at the semi-finals again...? Yeesh.
Semis will be v Texas, OSU or other so I’m pretty right on here.

I think, YES!

If no, why not?

NO. Playing at Ohio State is a probable loss. What is different this year is the high expectations that I fear will lead to a complete unraveling of their psyche after the Ohio loss resulting in an early exit from the playoffs. This assumes getting past Iowa, Indiana and Nebraska unscathed

I know many here don’t like it but Finebaum’s take (as much of an SEC homer he is) is the general opinion on PSU by the rest of the country.

Way too early to really give any percentage IMO. As others have said, injuries and upsets can drastically alter things. We’ll get a better feel toward the end of the season, but it’ll be very unlikely they get the favorable path of SMU and Boise St to the semifinals that they got last year.

LMAO, the AP is voted by writer's from across the country.... PSU is #2 in their poll, but you know better what "everybody's" opinion is.... [insert eyeroll]

I just saw this title to a video on espn’s “college” football (😞) page:

“Paul Finebaum: James Franklin will find some way to 'screw this season up'”

😞
One would think, after the last two seasons, Finebaum would have tapered down on his blatant SEC bias.

I think they will disappoint. Will make the playoffs but not as the Big10 Champs and would not be surprised if they were one and done.

What are you talking about? I didn’t say anything about AP voters or preseason rankings.

The question was what’s the percentage chance PSU wins the championship. I said it was too early, IMO, to be able to give any real answer to that question due to injuries, upsets, and waiting to see the luck of the draw pathway any team would have in the playoff to win it all. It has absolutely nothing to do with AP preseason rankings.

I swear some posters here are so emotionally unstable that they lose all touch with reality whenever someone has a different opinion.

He was obviously responding to this part of your post - "I know many here don’t like it but Finebaum’s take (as much of an SEC homer he is) is the general opinion on PSU by the rest of the country."

He's countering that AP voters throughout the country just voted us #2, so the general opinion in the rest of the country seems pretty high for those voters to put us where they did.

That was in response to another poster that linked Finebaum’s comment from the ESPN website. It’s hardly news that Finebaum doesn’t like Franklin or that Franklin has taken heat from college football fans and media around the country much like Mark Richt did when he coached at Georgia.

He's amazingly obtuse.... and he wants to talk about being "emotionally unstable" and "losing all touch with reality" (up to, and including, the reality of what he just said).

10%

One of these 9 will likely win the title: Penn State, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame or LSU. Then throw in 10% for something crazy like Miami, Michigan, South Carolina, etc.

Oh, there's absolutely no debate that it will be a tough road. I don't disagree with the assessment. But it will be a disappointment to make it no further than we did last year. Especially if Allar shows significant improvement.
