Does Jay Bilas talk about anything other than fouls?

I have always been a big supporter of Jay...but there have been a few games like this were any questionable call in Dukes favor is pointed out in-depth by Jay but never says anything the other way

Yeah he loves to point out Duke fouls. No worries about the fact that ND was in the bonus before the first TV timeout of the second half.

I'm sick and tired of watching any game because of how the announcers question almost every call made by a ref.
It must just be the world we live in now, bad mouth and judge everyone. I can't remember it being like this.

Duke fouled a ton tonight because they went to sleep in the first half. ND just spaced Duke out and beat them off the dribble. Even when Duke went zone, they didn't have enough focus to keep ND out of the lane. It was pitiful.

Exactly, Tim. I'm always arguing in support of Jay, but like you said, he wants to give an in-depth analysis of Duke getting away with one but never the other way. I really don't get it. Even if I *agree* with him... He seems to only do it against Duke.

Jay did great. As fans, we need to pay attention to our deficits...that's more important then the critics

I disagree about Jay doing great. Not because it was our game and there were alot of fouls. Every game he calls, whether it be us, Carolina, Kentucky, all he talks about is missed foul calls, block/charge. It gets tedious hearing the same thing over and over. Other announcers talk about other things, it makes for a more exciting game experience. I have gotten to the point that I cant stand his voice, no matter who he is calling. He doesnt have to praise Duke, thats not what Im saying. Just please talk about the positive things in the game. There are plenty things to talk about.

I was at least lucky in the fact that I could change it to the ACC Network and listen to Mike Gminski, who knows basketball as good or better than anyone BSPN has got. OFC

That would have been great Heyman! I hate when fans talk about the game announcers and bias, and I try to steer clear of it, but I just couldnt take it tonight.

Agree. Jay is becoming a broken record complaining about the block charge call. I'm not saying I disagree with what he's saying, it just makes the game less enjoyable to hear it nonstop

Sky you are correct that Jay had nothing to do with the loss but as I said 2 weeks ago, if I never hear him call a game again it will be too soon. At first we were all in awe of Jays knowledge and nice tv voice but that has grown old for me. His opinion is not what we want to constantly hear over and over.

And a lot of the and-1s ND got were flat out bad. Since when is being in the vicinity why a guy falls down a foul?

Jay tries to unbiased and not be one sided but he goes overboard. The way he brags about UNC and other teams and then he always points out Dukes shortcomings and fouls and will say very little about Dukes positives. I think he does not want to be labeled like everybody has done with Vitale but he is so overboard that you would think he graduated from UNC than Duke. He also has made the comment that only Wisconsin has the makeup to beat Kentucky. Everybody else is playing for 3rd place. Last time I checked I believe Duke has a pretty resume of teams they have taken down especially on the road. Kentucky loses 3 to 4 games if they were in the ACC this year. The SEC is terrible. Them rolling through that conference this year is no big feat IMO.

Let me see. Have they lost a game? They beat some pretty good teams this season have they not?

I know a lot of you guys love bilas, and I know he's a former Dukie, but I officially can't stand him. I almost would rather listen to Elmore.

I too watch ACC network when they are carrying our games and espn is too! G-man is the best and all those raycom guys are really good IMO. And the picture is better to me. I HATE the widescreen espn does. So glad the tourney isn't covered by them

I'm fine with whatever the refs call or don't call, that's part of the game.. But Jay does focus his conversations around foul-talk too much.. Whether it's a good call or bad call, he talks about it way too long and way too often.. If the game goes more than 2 minutes without a foul call, then he is stuck talking about Batman socks and whether or not Batman should be considered a "Super Hero" like Superman..

Although I truly enjoyed Grant Hill's announcing of 1 of our games this year, I don't think former players (of any team) should announce their team's games.. It puts them in the position to where they are attacked if they praise their team, so then they overcompensate by bashing their team, which isn't fair to them, or the fans watching the game.

I'm completely fine with players (ex. Jay Williams) doing pre/half/post game stuff though, because they are expected to pick a team - game announcers are suppose to be straight down the middle.. of course this doesn't apply to the team's own announcers, just network announcers.

I've always liked that Jay was objective about Duke. If he didn't think they were good enough he would rate them as such.

The problem with a game like last night is that he helps feed the "Duke gets all the calls" junk. We got some good calls...We do every game. We also had a few go against us but you wouldn't have known that watching the game.

Maybe it isn't Jays responsibility to help change the perception for Duke...something K has worked really hard on for the past 5 years or so. However...Anyone watching that game last night couldn't help but leave thinking...man if Jay thinks There were 10 bad calls for Duke and not one for ND then it is obviously true.

You know the way some of us post about our team when we lose I imagine if we were announcing the game a lot of would do it the way Jay does. Maybe he just like us gets frustrated sometimes with the way we play. OFC
