Playing in the Big Ten Hertz recruiting compared to pit being in the ACC and WVU in the big 12. Both of those are significantly better baseball conferences historically and thus kids definitely take that into consideration.

That's true about the ACC and Big 12. However, you would think that getting a chance to play schools like UCLA, USC and Oregon in baseball would be attractive.

Also, PSU actually had respectable seasons in 2024 and 2025 and I thought that they were becoming a competive program, but this past season was a hugh step backward. It's not good when you have a horrible record in the Big 10 when most of your games are against Northeastern and Midwestern Big 10 schools who also play most of their games in terrible spring weather in front of nobody.

Moving to the Big Ten was great for teams like UCLA and USC. They get to beat up on teams that aren’t as good as their former Pac 10 foes. As great as it sounds to play them, the way scheduling works is that it’s only one week that you’re gonna get out there for the most part. Two of the teams come here and you go out there to play the other two.

I think a lot of the regional northeast games are to save money, but in doing so they should be winning at least 2/3 of those games not just over 50% like they currently do

Penn State has to figure out their pitching staff, West Virginia really put a lot of money into a pitching lab to study spin rates and movement, Penn State has to do something similar

I would give up bball and transfer the nil funds to football. But in all seriousness, if true it is a damn shame that we are last in bball and not top 3 in football considering our size and alumni base. I have said it even after he got lucky landing Campbell - Kraft must go. He is the problem. A more creative non-meathead would figure out the disconnects that exist in fundraising.

Considering some of the other schools in the Big 10, I don't think that it's surprising that PSU isn't in the top three in NIL for football, which doesn't mean that its NIL budget isn't competitive in that sport. Also, depending on the direction of the program, it has a chance to increase a lot in upcoming seasons.

How does little D2 Millersville consistently play at a high level and put players in the majors and we can't?

Millersville is an outstanding division 2 program and their Coach, who’s an alum, has done an exceptional job the past 20 years. But let’s not go overboard, since 2019 Millersville hasn’t had a single player drafted in Penn State just had two drafted this year. Millersville gets most of their kids from eastern PA and a bunch of D1 kickbacks. These kids are all good ball players, but generally need another year or two to fully develop when the D1 programs aren’t willing to put in that time.

When you start bringing in a lot of international players is a sign to me that local/us based players don't want to play for you. Looking at past coaches Chambers and the guy who left for ND, they seemed to be able to recruit better players and do more with them. NIL has certainly changed the landscape but for a coach to start using that as an excuse is a sign that he needs to be replaced to me. Then I again I don't know enough about basketball and just a lazy person observation.

Not to be contrary and the quality of player matters, but Illinois did well with an international cast of characters.

Most definitely. there are 'handlers' over there who farm the good euros out to schools. You have to pay that guy as well as the american contact he has who gives you his number before you get any guys.

There are 'A' level guys that Illinois gets, 'B' level, "C" level, etc. PSU is in the B/C group right now.

Also, a lot of those Euros who come over to play college basketball already have played pro ball in countries like Spain.
