Does Spencer Lee really not work out with the team?

I saw the comment from Drake Ayala's mom that Spencer Lee doesn't work-out with the team. Is this really/fully true?

If so, is he training with HWC full-time?

Given that Lee is super-elite and recovering from an injury, I get that his training might be unique. It just seems really weird if he isn't working out with the team at all.

From what I hear it all has to do with him coming off injury & there is nothing more to it

Sounds like some sour grapes coming from a mom. Not a good look for her airing dirty laundry on social media

I get the sour grapes angle, etc. I'm just curious as to if Lee really isn't practicing with the team. If it is all the injury and limiting reps, etc., that is the end of the inquiry as far as I'm concerned.

If he is meeting-up with DeSanto, etc. off-hours for personal practices with Tom & Terry away from the rest of the squad, I'd love to know more.

Spencer hasn't been working out much at all since he won his 3rd title.

If you recall he chose not to have ACL surgery after nationals. Drake arrived in IC last fall and at that time Spencer was not actively training. He wrestled a few matches and then had double ACL surgery in January. As a result he hasn't done much live wrestling.

She's not wrong. Spencer has been injured most of Drake's Hawkeye career so they most certainly haven't spent much time rolling together.

She was wrong to air her sour grapes on Facebook. I can't imagine how much coaches hate social media.

He hasn't been working out much at all. I'm pretty sure her statement was to the effect that him and Drake don't wrestle in practice which given the injury situation is not surprising.

I heard, from what I would consider a reliable source, that Spencer had 7 live practices under his belt for the ISU meet. So, yeah, he's not been practicing with the team much.

Got it. Makes sense. No hidden drama or special midnight practices, just the simple fact that he is rehabbing from an injury and trying to keep miles off his body in anticipation of going for the 4th NCAA Championship.

Well I was referring to the Twitter bum who continually posts garbage about the Iowa wrestling program.

You know as soon as that match was announced as happening that he started looking for any dirt he could find...unfortunately it was served to him on a platter.

Got it. Annoying segment of the collegiate wrestling fan-base. I remember them well from the Daniel Dennis vs. Tony Ramos drama. Shame on me for running with it.

Spencer rolls in the room when healthy with the guys who can push him. There is nothing wrong with trying to get better and there are people who can help Drake get better on a different level. People, even Moms forget Spencer is on a different level than most. No disrespect for Gilman, but he knew what Spencer Lee was about and it was best for him to find different partners and a different room where he could excel. Just the way life is.

100% false. He works out with the team, and has wrestled non HWC guys this season. I don't normally respond, but can't stand certain narratives getting pushed by haters.
