Maybe, definitely need help at O-line and a few other positions. But the portal could solve most of our issues. The big question is will it? We will know in a few days, saving my judgement until then. I could be very optimistic or very doubtful. It all depends on how well we do in the portal.

Portal can be a great tool, and can be used to fill in holes for certain positions, put a whole unit ? , that could prove difficult,
OL in the portal means they have been told to leave or they aren't good enough to be a starter. I doubt this fixes our needs. I hope we have some younger guys currently on the roster that can step up. I do not see this being a good thing.
Well just lost another Olineman- that makes 6, I believe. We will have only the Left tackle Thompson remaining if he stays. I guess as bad as they were it can't get any worse.
I guess it depends on how much is needed? I know Rocket Sanders, Demetrius Knight, and Kyle Kennard certainly filled voids (and then some to say the least) .... aside from the obvious of needing an OL, we need a strong RB (like Sanders) and our defense needs work ... our D was stout during 2024 and that was a concern of mine going into last season and unfortunately it came to fruition .... I am thankful that CSB embraces the portal .... in this day and age, both HS recruiting and the portal must go hand in hand .... Happy New Year, fellow Gamecock fans!
Very difficult to build an entire OL from the portal given the intense competition for good OLs every year
I still just don't see us needing another big time running back... I really liked M. Fuller.... I didn't think he got nearly enough touches. I have high hopes he'll bust out this year if we can get any sort of help up front. I felt like he got wasted last year.... At the same time, I don't know why they wouldn't play the best person. Maybe he couldn't block?
The portal is just another aspect of talking season. So far, we're winning talking season. Seems like we always do well and are poised to do special things. And then August hits and it's the same 'ol stuff.

I hope you're right but the year before Rocket Sanders, the coaching staff started out DKJ ... a GREAT ambassador but not a stud RB and it took several games before they started a transfer from Newberry (Anderson) who played great and then left for more $$$ to Memphis .... so Sanders between this past year and that year stands out to me .... I do like Fuller and I love that he seems to always fall forward when being tackled, but I have not see anything that makes me think he would be an SEC stud ... I hope he surprises me and shines .... we will see what CSB can get .... thanks for responding, ThinnyJ!
Fuller and the other guy Howell were both decent at taking what was given but neither they nor Faison pick up blitzes or rushers worth crap. A back strong enough to stick his nose in there when needed and also makes instead of takes removes a huge burden from the qb. The Kevin Harris, the Mario Anderson, the Rocket Sanders; GOTTA have one to be successful.
The OL needs to produce. I don't care who the OC is if we have a poor OL. Some, not all, fans fail to realize that.
I agree. I like both Fuller and Howell too. I think they will both get better if the OL improves. However, if there is another Rocket Sanders available in the portal we need to get him. He was a big part of our success in 2024.
