Does Towles see the field Saturday or is Stoops building for 2016?

???? Stoops may just go with Barker all the way. Or does he get shaky and feel Towles needs one more shot in 2015?

Unless he chucks up 4 interceptions or is knocked out with injury Barker will take every snap on Saturday. And needs to do so. And I'm sure the coaching staff will have a gameplan limiting the danger of Barker turning the ball over or getting hit & injured.

I hope we can run the ball down their throats as well. The trouble is...UL knows that is our gameplan.

Asinine. Who the hell cares who QB's how much as long as we win? Does it really matter to you? If so, you have problems. It's as if people make up questions just to see their name online.

Don't see the need any getting all uptight, it is a rather innocent question to ponder. With a bowl game on the line does the staff turn to Barker (if the offense is not moving) and the game is still in reach. I have longed clamored for Barker to get snaps because of Towles ineffectiveness, however if Barker is not getting it done then I would have no problem inserting Towles to see if he can get the offense going.

At this stage with a bowl game on the line, you have to pull out all stops to win the game. Would love to see the staff to play to win this game instead of playing not to lose but figure we will get the latter.

I don't think he'll leave Barker in to build for 2016, I think he'll leave him in to try to get to a bowl game in 2015.

VHcat you could not be more off base.. Towles will not get us a win..Barker or Phillips maybe so..Barker needs to play the whole game but these coaches play not to lose so if we stall a bit or fall behind by a TD, I look for Stoops to pull Barker asap and put the very inaccurate Towles in so we can get farther behind. And there you have it.

I agree cats2010, I think if Barker is not at the top of his game or we are behind Stoops will go with Towles without hesitation.

This game isn't to be confused with "hunting a QB for next year". There will be plenty of time for that. This is a must win game.

Barker looked OK Saturday, but he lacks experience that might work against him. I would feel the same way if it was Towles starting. I would not hesitate bringing in Barker. In fact I would not be surprised to see both play when a certain type of play is needed. I think Barker played well enough that the staff has confidence in him. go cats

Unless DB is a total disaster you let him go the distance...We will need 30 + to win though do I don't know if really makes a difference

I don't think you can let the game get out of hand before you make changes. I think Barker deserves to start but I don't think Stoops will hesitate to bring Towles in because of his experience. This is a must win and you do whatever is necessary with your players. jmho

I have no idea what will happen, but it's not good if either QB is looking over their shoulder afraid they'll be yanked if they make a mistake, or have a bad series or two. Especially Barker, that's not always good for a young quarterbacks psyche.

A bowl game is a big deal. Extra practices. Appearance to recruits and fans that things are improving yr after yr. More experience for the players.

Next yr shouldn't enter anyone's mind. They should play whomever will get us the win this Saturday.

Anyone here remember the pass that JoJo attempted from the Wildcat?

Well, I don't care if they play JoJo at QB as long as we win.

Anyone who thinks Barker is going to be on a short leash is just smoking so much crack. The confidence the coaches and the team have in Towles is lower than a snails belly, unfortunately the kid probably feels even worst.

Barker playing on Sat ain't about 2016, it is about winning and going to a bowl in 2015.

hell I'm betting the offensive wrinkles for UL were being installed last week. no need to do anything but basic hand offs to blow out UNCC, didnt have to give UL any tape to prep with.

I'm sure if Barker has several 3 and outs to start the game, or turnovers, they will trot Towles out there.

Hell, the zone read with the QB actually keeping it would be a wrinkle I'd like to see...I think barker ran that in high school plenty. Also noticed that UL cannot handle WR sweeps - bet we will see some of that as well.

Props:

1. Which number will be greater: UK punts through 3 quarters, or pass attempts by Towles for the game
2. Over/Under catches by C. J. Conrad (Barker + Towles): 2
3. Over/Under UK's first scoring touchdown: 7 yards

I believe that I heard Stoops say on his call in show last night that Barker will be the man, but don't totally rule out an appearance by Towles if Barker struggles.

I would like to see Barker get the start but let him know there would be a change early just to get both QBs a few plays,, no short leash just a plan that both will play and unless one is red hot, there will be several switches.

I don't care one way or the other, I just want this team to win number 6 and get to a bowl !!!!
I have a gut feeling that is exactly what they're going to do!

Look Stoops loves Towles but what he likes most about him happens to be his biggest weakness right now, which is his arm strength. When Towles is just a little off he is a mile off because of his arm strength.

Towles may be a great Pro QB, but he isn't a system QB which is what we need. For the life of me I can't figure out why Stoops doesn't get this. If you want to use a Pro Style QB with a Pro Strength Arm then bring in the players and coaches that can run it. This isn't Towles fault the coaching staff (Stoops) is trying to get him to play in a way he isn't completely comfortable with. I'm not convinced Barker is the right fit for this offense either, but it looks like he is going to get his chance. Towles got almost two years to prove his play.
