Things are a little crazy with Nelson leaving and the defending 2A champions Appomattox listed with only 9 games, but thought this would be worth looking at. Great coaches and fans in this group. I do like the idea of Rustburg joining this district, but doubt it would happen.

Dan River- 8-2 - return the most, and they will be tough to beat
Appomattox 7-2- lost some key players, great coach and a stifling defense will find a way to win
Gretna 5-5 - The line will haunt them-this game is won and lost in the trenches. Not a big fan of playing the same team twice during the regular season. I understand the reason why, but just feel like there could have been a different solution
Altavista 4-6 - Same as Gretna
Wm. Campbell 3-7- Couple solid playmakers and a passionate coach, but the numbers game hurts them
Chatham 2-8- Big fan of Coach Allen. Still setting the table with his style, and he will turn things around in time.

I agree with 98% of this.. I think Chatham could win more than 3-4 games tho. They return a good chunk of talent.

Appomattox has their two toughest tests back to back when they play a very good Heritage team and a very good Dan River team. I expect both games to be challenges, especially Heritage who has an experienced and massive O-line and probably the best RB in the area in Elijah Davis. If Appomattox can find a way to win against Heritage and Dan River then, they will be 9-0. If I had to guess, I say they lose to Heritage but beat DR. Then again, they might win both or lose both or beat HHS and lose to DR. That's the beauty of the game, anything is possible. I know one thing for sure, when you have the coaching staff that Appomattox has combined with 2-3 FBS players on a 2A team, your odds are very high any game.

I think the Raiders keep it going. I dont think they go undefeated all the way but I still think they will dominate on Fridays. Their Jv teams were very good too.

Who do you think will give DR and Appomattox their two losses respectively?

I'm curious, who do you believe DR and Appomattox will lose to?
I think Dan River will lose a close game with Magna Vista to start the season. Appomattox has been on a tremendous run. They have one of the best coaches in the state. They also have graduated several key players.
The schedule makers did not help Appo by having Heritage and Dan River back to back. I think they lose both. The rest of the schedule seems like winnable games, but I think they stumble one more time along the way.

Im with aimhighveteran Last season I was sold on Heritage. Arrington got hurt, and Moss did a good job. However, they were not the same. This year with Anderson returning and Davis in the backfield behind a very good line the Pioneers are going to be very tough. I think the Raiders lose to Heritage and Dan River.
For the Wildcats- I think they lose to M&M. Magna Vista and Martinsville.
Both these teams are very, very good. Winning 30 games in a row is beyond impressive, but to go 3 straight season undefeated is next to impossible.

Had the pleasure of watching Appomattox in camp this week , they'll will be very good again , great size up front , really good athletes , look for them to pass more this year . Heritage will be The only team to really Challenge them this year . DR , Rustburg will give them a game until halftime , eveybody else on the schedule we'll be a cake walk.

Appomattox will be the team to beat
Dan River will be their biggest test within the the district. Appomattox lost a lot in linemen but they they still have a lot of team speed (not 1 or 2 guys but like 8 to 9.) Their offense will have to play 4 quarters this year instead of 2 1/2 qtrs. You will see scores in the 50 to 60's as they will give up a few more points. . I don't see them going undefeated as 4a Heritage is very good. That game will come down to who scores last.
