I know he hasn't played much recently, but could you see him getting a few minutes for defense? Seems like he'd be good to use against teams on defense against good offensive guards.

nope.

It's issue with our big being alert.

(Dakari seem to actually do best at time..which is a big ???)

I think WCS/KAT/LEE has huge tendency to be out of place and when they do support...it's really weak support.

Tourney time usually means narrowing your rotation, not expanding it. Don't think we'll be seeing much of Nique from here on out.

Nope, you are way off. You can't ask that much out of your bigs. You can't rely on them to guard their man and constantly help off to cut of dribble penetration from opposing guards. Cal understands this which is why he didn't let his guards "overplay" the perimeter as much in the second half. He saw that they were getting torched and hanging our bigs out to dry on help side.

Our bigs are plenty alert, but you can't ask them to constantly help off and also guard their man without there being breakdowns.

Thats like having both your corners get burned time and time again and blaming touchdowns on the safety.

I think Hawkins could definitely help defensively for us.

His season was strange...had those 4 or 5 games where he would start the game and then he would never see the court the rest of the game. Now he is 100% mop up.

Cal is showcasing the Harrison twins for a final push to raise their NBA Draft stock. That means they are going to get as much playing time possible. Also, Tyler and Devin are a big part of our team, so that means no time for Dom.

There may be a game in the NCAA that we'll need him on the defensive end for a stretch, but a lot of things would have to happen for Cal to use him.

The defense is not the problem. Unless Hawkins can come in and start busting threes, I don't know why you would start playing him all of a sudden.

I think we will see him play but not for the reason listed in the OP. He is good at harassing on the perimeter but he doesn't stop the drive very well imo. People are going to drive the ball against Kentucky, that is what UK's defense gives them. It appears, and I agree that having teams drive into 7 footers is a better option than allowing them to shoot 3's.

I believe it. Every game they ask Cal what was the turning point in the game and he says Andrew. I think he's going to be his agent when he gets him drafted.

If Cal gets frustrated with the defense of the other guards, or if there's injury, he could go to Hawkins. But I doubt he'll do it during the postseason.
