Not unexpected from their fans. Quite a bit of hype going into the season that never materialized. From the Shorthorns board...Some funny ****.

This is a very average football team...
Calling them average is way too nice.
we just made the 106 ranked defense look like a top 10. Think about that.
Millions of dollars for one more win. This staff disgusts me. This game is all on them.
Tom Herman & Tim Beck, you suck.
Herman is a bad coach. Absolutely ZERO adjustments.
Time to boycott this team. This is awefull . Boycott the bowl game. TH is not going to be good here. We will have no OL next year. Spillman can suck a dic*.
Welp..that's it...nice job Herman and Beck...Jackholes.
Texas football is in the dumpster

Vodka Tom just saved Kliffie's job for one more year !![]()
I relish every Shorthorns loss...this time they laid a bevo patty on their own turf. Gotta have some red *** in burnt orange land.
True, but not under Herman.Shorthorns have brought in bus loads of blue chippers year after year. Still they crap the bed and shorthorn fans cry like babies. (grin)
No one here likes Texas.I'm beginning to think some fans like the hornsHell, I've gotten to watch that Titanic of a program hit an iceberg and sink 6 times this season. It never gets old.

That's good! I would hope no sooner fan is lining up for a Herman frenchy. No one here likes Texas.
And mentioning whatever ascension may be ahead for this team has nothing to do with liking or disliking Texas.
You nailed it, Sonny...Vodka Tom just saved Kliffie's job for one more year !![]()
There are tons of fans in this board who are capable of the exact same thing. Not unexpected from their fans.
Agree but please don't call Baker's pass to Andrews a miracle. Andrews was wide open and there are a lot of QB's who could make that throw. A great play design by Riley and a mistake by the Texas safety who went with the inside receiver. For years Texas has had great recruiting but that has not transferred to wins on the field. Just my opinion here but until the culture of entitlement is wiped out completely in Austin Texas will continue to under achieve. That is Herman's biggest challenge. Has he made significant strides in that direction?? We shall see.Texas did what I thought they would do this year.
5 of their 6 losses were by 5 points or less. The other loss was a 24-7 defeat to TCU at Ft. Worth.
They beat Iowa State, something OU and TCU failed to do and these two teams are in the Big 12 Championship Game.
Once again, they played OU a tough game for the 5th year in a row, losing to a Mayfield miracle in the 4th quarter. 29-24.
Herman now has a freshman quarterback he can build a team around.
In recruiting, Scout has Texas' 2018 class ranked 3rd, Rivals at 5th and 247Sports ranked 2nd.
No, Texas is NOT back.....yet.
Mayfield has made "miracle" plays seem routine. Given the fact that Texas had rallied from a 17-0 deficit and led OU 24-23 late in the 4th quarter, OU needed a big play....a "Sooner Magic" play. Most miracle plays are the result of a "great play design". OU came up with such a play when it mattered most.Agree but please don't call Baker's pass to Andrews a miracle. It was a great play call but was not a miracle.Watch the play again! Andrews was wide open- it was not a tight window. As I remember it sooner magic began in the 1976 OU -Nebraska game with the hook and ladder play pitch to Elvis Peacock that took the ball down to the 2 yd line where we scored next play to beat the Huskers. That was a miracle for a run heavy wishbone team to pull that off. It will be interesting to see if Herman can get it done. Installing those lockers with TV sets is certainly a great start to the message that we have to earn it and we got to be tougher, nobody is going to hand it to you!Mayfield has made "miracle" plays seem routine. I know that there is and has been a culture of entitlement in Austin, and that is Herman's biggest obstacle because all the resources are already in place for Texas to be an elite program again. That won't happen in Herman's first year, maybe not until 2019 when more of Herman's recruits are making an impact.
So what is your point! The term sooner magic was coined after the 1976 Nebraska game. My memory is as good as yours. The 1961 game vs Army OU with no huddle throws a pass to the sidelines to Mike McCllend who runs for a touchdown. 1967 Bobby Warmsck touchdown pass to Steve Zabel. George Buster Rymes scores winning touchdown against Nebraska in 1980 in Lincoln. We both love OU football and remember all the great plays from yeats ago. My point is that 2017 Baker pass to Andrews was not magic or a miracle. Just my opinion. My view of Sooner Magic dates back to 1961, when OU beat favored Army 14-8 on a 75 yard play run without a huddle.
I regard big, game winning plays as miracle plays, late in the game.
Then:
1964 vs Maryland
1967 vs Kansas
1975 vs Missouri
1976 vs Nebraska
1977 vs Ohio State
1980 vs Nebraska
1983 vs OK-State
1986 vs Nebraska
2000 vs Ok-State
2001 vs Texas
2002 vs Alabama
2012 vs West Virginia and Ok-State
2015 vs Tennessee
2017 vs Kansas State and Texas
There are probably more, but these are some I recall at this time and some were by defensive big plays.
The Army Game in 1961, which I attended in Yankee Stadium while living in NJ, was made by a lateral (not a pass) out to Mike *McClellan* while Army was still in its defensive huddle. That play is on YouTube, by the way.So what is your point! The term sooner magic was coined after the 1976 Nebraska game. My memory is as good as yours. Sorry, I wasn't trying to be confrontational. I respect you as much as any poster on this board. I just thought that Baker's recent throw against Texas was not in the "magic" category. But if you do that is all well and good. The phrase "sooner magic" was coined after the 1976 Nebraska game. But like you I have many magic/great memories of many sooner wins prior to that game. Sorry I forgot how to spell Mike McCellan. My Dad took me to my first OU game in 1954. They played TCU. I was 10 years old. Would love to be able to sit down with you and talk about OU football and Yankee baseball. The Army Game in 1961, which I attended in Yankee Stadium while living in NJ, was made by a lateral (not a pass) out to Mike *McClellan* while Army was still in its defensive huddle. And yes, the Sooner Magic term was born in the 1976 Nebraska game.
All I'm saying is it started for me much earlier.
I attended two OU games during my years in NJ (1960-69). The 1961 Army game and the 1964 Maryland game in 1964, Gomer Jones' first game, with John Hammond throwing a 90 yard pass to Lance Rentzel in the 4th quarter with OU trailing 3-0. OU scored an insurance TD later following an interception to escape with a 13-3 win.
Agree, McBrider and I wasn't trying to put you down.Sorry, I wasn't trying to be confrontational. I respect you as much as any poster on this board. I was only ten years old in 1954. So I didn't even know about the TCU receiver at the time. I lived in Oklahoma City at the time and don't recall any mention of it in the local news. In fact I never knew it happened until I read about it in the book The Undefeated or was it Forty Seven Straight- don' recall which. Wasn't the 75 Pitt game the one where Scott Hill went airborne and literally laid out Tony Dorset on a sweep play. One of the greatest hits in all of OU football. The decade of the sixties was miserable as far as Texas was concerned. The 1967 game (9-7 Texas)still sticks in My craw. We were clearly the better team, but the hero of the 66 game, Mike Vachon, missed three field goals and Joe Killingsworth dropped a pass in the end zone (I think?). Also the 68 game was another heart breaker. We went ahead on Warmacks run. On Texas winning drive LB Steve Casteel appeared to have an interception but couldn't hang onto the ball.Agree, McBrider and I wasn't trying to put you down.
That 1954 TCU game won by OU 21-16 is said to have had a play where a TCU receiver was initially awarded a catch in the end zone and he told an official he had trapped the ball. Have you ever heard that story before ?
I saw some pretty historical games with my dad.
1958 Texas, lost on a 2-point conversion 15-14 and Darrell Royal went on to win 12 of the next 13 games from OU.
1959 Texas, OU had a 12-0 lead and lost 19-12.
1971 OU's year old wishbone ended Texas' 13 year stranglehold, 48-27.
1975 OU 46 Pitt 10....Tony Dorsett 14 carries....17 yards.
1975 Texas game 24-17, OU.
1975 OU-OSU....sat in the OSU student section....very quietly. OU 27, OSU 7.
1980 John Elway 31, OU 14 in the rain.
I think Vachon missed four FG's in the 1967 Texas game....after hitting four a year earlier in OU's 18-9 win (1966).I was only ten years old in 1954.
