Agree twith CTOkie that UT will get better. Not sure how much next year. Williams the top tackle and Jefferson, the linebacker, may bail for the pros early. The great punter may also. And not sure the freshman QB the one to build an offense around. Critical turnovers he made cost the Horns 3 games - SC, OSU and Tech. Not sure they have the talent on offense.
Williams did in fact declare today; won't play in their bowl game either.

some notes on players leaving, per Inside Texas.

-OL Connor Williams will not play in the bowl game and focus on going pro.

-LB Malik Jefferson, CB Holton Hill, S DeShon Elliott and DE Charles Omenihu want to go pro. Only Omenihu has a solid chance of returning.

-OL Jake McMillon, OL Terrell Cuney, OL Garrett Thomas and OL Alex Anderson will not use their final year of eligbility and move on.

-LB Edwin Freeman is contemplating retirement.

-they're hearing three likely to transfer are RB Chris Warren, WR Devin Duvernay and CB Donovan Duvernay.

-lastly, there is a player mentioned that would be "a very bad loss", but they can't publish the name right now.

I guess kisses from the coach aren't helping.

Man, if the Horns cave next year will be 9 seasons since the last great Texas team. Trying to remember the last drought that long for OU. Guess after the Switzer years. 89 to 98. But then OU got Stoops. Not sure Herman the answer.

On paper, there is some decent talent leaving the UT program.
That talent was part of a team that netted a 16-21 record over the past three years, so I see it as replaceable considering that Herman has to, in some ways, drain the swamp and bring in HIS players.

Similar to 1994-1995-1996 at OU.
I read and heard that there was a "groundswell" of support for hiring John Blake after Schnellenberger left in 1995...ouch !
If Herman doesn't resurrect UT football by 2019, who will ?
But then, I never thought Tennessee would decline so much, either.

You could put Nebraska in that same bucket. They are in that same cycle. Their moves have really blown up in their face.

Good point.
I don't see Nebraska coming out of its free fall anytime soon as compared to Tennessee and Florida, two teams who are located in a great recruiting area (deep South).
If I'm a top level recruit I would look at Tennessee and Florida hands down over Nebraska. Nebraska now is on the western outskirts of the Big 10 recruiting area and far north of what it once had as a member of the Big12.
