I think it’s going to be the only factor. These players don’t even have much to do with their recruitments anymore, their agents do. And these agents aren’t lining up to sign on with JMI.

Mitch Barnhart has destroyed Kentucky sports. After that, he decided to give more money than anyone to women’s chess. The guy is a walking disaster. Then he has the nerve to act like UK fans want to cheat and he’s just above that. This guy destroyed what men built over 100 years. He thinks it’s the university of Mitch Barnhart. I still do not understand why he still has a job. He should be fired immediately and told to clear out his office by lunch.

Don’t forget his words during that press conference. We built a new Drama Center!! That’s all they care about, landholding. It’s over man.i know several men who flat told me years ago Barnhart will destroy the sports at Kentucky and he’s doing it.

It seems Eli is just as incompetent

Brother, I agree with everything you said. The only problem is it was rationally constructed. If we lose to IU, I think the fanbase is done —- and I’ll be honest the anger is 100% justified. I’m like you and still see the vision and I love the vision. I can see this year just didn’t work out as expected. The way I see it is if we went on a 2008-style mini tear through the SEC, it won’t matter. Enough fans will have already made up their mind that the vision is wrecked already —- when the environment gets this toxic players won’t progress the same and the boosters won’t back the same. We’d be more the less prolonging the inevitable. Think of it like a professional basketball organization firing a coach mid-year due to fan response. Sure, there is a theoretical way to turn the season around but the more toxic it gets, that becomes nigh impossible. Plus, I’m giddy about the idea of hiring Pearl out of retirement. I love me some Pearl and I bet he would want it when we inevitably get brutally turned down by Oats again.
I know that I'm going to get the "you're not a fan" responses to this, but I think a lot of people on this board have just lost their minds. I'm 61 years old and been a Wildcat fan since birth. That's how things used to happen; you were born into it in the state of Kentucky, you learned to love your Cats and watch (or listen to, in those days) every game the Cats play. That has stuck with me my entire life. So there are no bigger Kentucky fans than myself, no matter what criteria some of you want to make up to fit your agenda. I admit that this season has been horrible and these games have just been painful in so many ways. I agree that something has to change. But, to carry on about firing Mark Pope right now is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. I'm not happy about how things are going, but I think you need to try to find a little patience and see how this plays out. A mid-season firing would be such a mistake and detrimental to the Kentucky program. It's obvious that some of these players are unhappy and don't really like each other and that's impacting these games. It's obvious that Oweh has checked out and doesn't care about winning games and if that's the case, SIT HIM (or any of the others that have that attitude). For people to get on this board and say that they aren't going to be Kentucky fans much longer if Pope isn't fired, tells me one thing... you're one that might want to question if you're really a Kentucky fan. There's been a lot of good and bad in all my years of being a fan, but there's never been time I said I could stop being a fan. I think Pope needs to make adjustments and get players out there who want to play and want to win as a team. If that can't happen and the season ends up being as bad as a lot of people think it will; then it might be time to talk about Pope moving on. I personally choose to still have hope and think they might be able to turn things around. Hopefully everyone will be able to play soon and Pope will make some changes to get the Cats back on top. Okay...bash away!

No bashing from me. I was happy to hear you still believe we can turn it around. I’m still wondering these days whether I rationally believe we still can or if I’m just hoping myself.

I get that. This season has been ugly, but there's a lot of basketball to go. There is something going on with this team that is causing issues and I hope they find a way around that. I've just seen too much to give up so early. I really hope that Pope can get it done.

I don’t know, but I can tell you this.

Mitch Barnhart would survive it. He’s the only guy I know of that can survive one disaster after another. It just shows winning big has nothing to do with his job description.

I think he’s a nice guy I just don’t believe he’s cut out for professional sports and that’s what this is. Your job is not to go strictly by some imaginary rule book it’s to take what you’re given and bend it to give your major teams the absolute best shot at championships. I just don’t understand how he’s surviving SEC sports. I really don’t. He’s clearly in over his head and cut out for lower ranks. He’s make a great community college or small Christian league administrator. Not SEC.
It’s called Management. Barnhart survives because he gives his bosses exactly what they want. He kicks in Sports money to build Eli’s new Arts district. Sankey contacted UK and urged them not to let Mitch retire. Mitch follows all his rules, never sues, never complains and sits on the committees as the only one NOT there to help his own agenda. The NCAA puts Mitch on selection committees because he will be the only one there to not be UK biased. He would let us slide 2 lines to make everyone happy.
He is a yes man with no backbone. Keeping who he is talking to at the current moment happy is his top priority. When you do that your bosses love you. Your coworkers despise you.
