Wood.

At 21 I would find a reason why i wouldn’t. For example, “she has a weird eye”. In my late 30’s, now I find a reason why i would. Like “well, she has a nice ______”. So yeah, she’s famous, why not?

By the way, I also believe Doris Burke is better than majority of male basketball analylist. If you are someone who can’t listen to her, I do believe it is solely because she is a woman. Blast away.

I've seen this repeatedly stated yet never supported. I'm willing to listen as to why you or anything thinks this. What does she say/do that makes her great or undervalued? This is not meant as a smart *** comment either. Just hear this repeatedly yet never supported or have any reasons given.

I think that’s an honestly good question and a respectful response. Basically, I guess I would summarize it better by saying I believe she sounds better than majority of male commentators and analysts. There are so many commentators out there these days that have a great “radio voice” but try way too hard during a game. She seems to be very unbiased and also offers good analysis during a stretch of a game. I appreciate her knowledge while also not freaking out during random plays like many tend to do. After hearing guys I have never heard of do some of our games in the last part of the seasons, I’d much rather had Doris Burke than one of those guys. But people say they don’t like her and also that they don’t like women doing men’s games which I believe is purely because it s not a man and nothing more.

2 questions what did she say at the end and what didn't he mouth to her? It's hard to make out
I don't know what she said to him after the interview but I believe it was the comment by Doris asking about repercussions for Rondo calling out the Heat "crying" at the time that he did not take well. I don't remember everything from that interview but remember seeing it make the rounds on the internet 6 years ago.

Can't post this link correctly because of language that keeps popping up when I post it but if you copy and paste this link, more discussion from Celtics fans about it at the time.

reddit.com/r/nba/comments/ujndj/what_did_rondo_say_to_doris_burke_after_the/

https://thebiglead.com/2012/06/04/r...rd-encounter-after-the-celtics-beat-the-heat/

The Celtics survived Dwyane Wade’s three-point attempt at the buzzer to knot the Eastern Conference Finals at two games apiece, and then ESPN’s Doris Burke spoke with Celtic hero Rajon Rondo (15 points, 15 assists, one cheap shot at the Heat during a halftime interview.

Burke asked whether or not Rondo expected repercussions following his halftime comments – “Them complaining and crying to the referees in transition” – and Rondo sidestepped it, saying “what I said was true.” (He was right, of course.) Then the interview ended and Rondo mouthed something at Burke in what appeared to be an unhappy manner. He looked at her, and then she came over to clear the air. What did he say?

The best guess came on twitter last night: “you trying to get me fined?” If you watch the video again, it fits. Some players might say this with a smirk or grin, but Rondo’s a weird dude, and appeared serious. Burke tried to talk him off the ledge to diffuse the situation and it seemed to work.

Cool. I am not big on most announcing teams because think the hires are biased (CBB with their Duke obsession) or lazy and go off name assumption--for instance the recent elevation of Jason Witten or the failed attempt of Shane Battier that was given, not earned. Burke actually is in with a group she's familiar with seeing she was at Providence as a player and Van Gundy was there as an Assistant with Pitino. Van Gundy coaching with Knicks and Mark Jackson being a former player, so the entire telecast is basically a group that is comfortable with each other. My experiences watching a game are wanting simple requests from the crew:

1. Do you have knowledge of both teams playing?
2. Does the crew have ability to let game be the show and not talk at all times
3. Do the commentators add anything (see Grant Hill as poster boy for being given a job and adding nothing to any telecast other then being a nice guy).

I like Van Gundy for his sense of humor and fact he doesn't always cater to the superstar players but also defends them/their role when they get bashed. He gets what it takes and their roles, but doesn't make them mythical. Jackson isn't my favorite but if he's going to work, like it with Van Gundy. Burke is good, and she's climbing the ladder and earning her promotions, unlike some in the industry (again, Grant Hill is the worst announcer I've seen on a #1 team of announcers and Raftery is getting rewarded for his time served but his elevation is 15 to 20 years late when he was in prime, now he's mailing it in with cliches and kissing Hill's butt all the time).

Have you noticed how awful Marv Albert's been this season? It's time to retire. Names wrong, doesn't know what's going on within the game, and it's just time. He was a great NBA PBP guy but it's past time, and I like Brian Anderson, Spiro Dedes, and several others more. As an Analyst, I agree that NBA is need of some new blood but not forced--Nate Robinson is built for studio work, not games, I always have enjoyed Greg Anthony's take. Biggest problem with NBA right now is their best analysts are coaching (Kerr and Doc Rivers).

Cross over analysts, I am highest on Kara Lawson because she's done her homework, doesn't preach or get off topic, and think she's a professional. Burke's analysis is solid but can't stand her or Beth Mowin's voices and that's my personal opinion, just as I can't stand Reggie Miller's voice or all things Grant Hill. By the way, have I mentioned how awful Grant Hill is? lol

In all fairness though, I do like Dorris Burke as an analyst. She does have a lot of intelligence about the game, I just can’t stand when she tries to distort her voice to sound more masculine.

I’m with you. Grant hill is terrible. Marv Albert is ok but I think you are correct about him and his mistakes. There will be a ball honout of bounds, everyone on the floor knows it’s jist out of bounds and they go to timeout. He’ll say “and a FOUL on Lebron James” or someone and not even question it. He’ll go to commercial having never corrected himself and comes back with no mention of it. All he has to do is go “my mistake, there was no foul there at the dead ball going to commercial. It was out of bounds and will be _______ ball”. But he doesn’t even acknowledge it which tells me he’s absolutely clueless as to what actually happened!!!

Van Gundy entertains me because he’s goofy. He’ll call out bad calls. He’ll call out bad plays and also has a sense of humor. He can say something crazy as hell and then laugh at himself over it even if he sticks with what he said.

Marv Albert is past his prime...but what 76-year old isn't?

But there is a generation of play-by-play people who have copied his style and voice, e.g. Dan Schulman.

for what it's worth....

I like me some 55-year old Hannah Storm.

Tony Kornheiser is wrong about her. I'm not close to her age but as I do get older, those kind of women start to look better. She's grown on me the last couple years. MILF
