Dorms for incoming freshman

So my daughter was just admitted this past week for next fall. She keeps talking about wanting to stay in Granville which is fine, but she also doesn’t know if she wants to be involved in Greek life either. If you were an incoming freshman in 2026 which dorm would you prefer? I know she would like suite style over hall style and I can’t blame her there. I just don’t see her doing the Greek life thing when it comes down to it. Just doesn’t seem like that has been her personality, but I guess she can always try it and see I guess. If not Granville would you go north campus or south campus? She is aiming to major in chemistry and minor in biology, but that doesn’t really matter I guess. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I recently attended a UNC "road show" for prospective students at the high school my daughter attends, and the representative said all incoming freshman are required to live on South campus now.

No they just have to stay on campus as a freshman. They have freshman dorm options on south, north, and even central campus. Granville counts as well. That’s according to the emails she has received since being admitted.

I don’t know her situation, but the Honors college houses freshmen in Cobb.

If that is an option, there are very few better locations on campus to live as a freshman.

Granville is probably a better option than South campus, but the South campus forms a community of its own. It’s just a long walk to class every day.

Thank you for the information! I will pass it along to her.

I lived in Teague (By God) for 2 years until we all got kicked out and they made it co-Ed. We dominated all the intramural sports so much they had to split our dorm of 4 floors into 2 dorms

And they’ve renovated Avery. A lot of athletes, baseball for one, has always stayed there. Not sure about the rest of the folks there
