..another player that so many posters on here talked waaaay to much s-h-i-t about, lands at a premier program. Weird. All he did was score touchdowns for us.
Nothing against tbe guy. Wish him the best. Hope he has a finance guy because I'm 99% sure with 4 transfers you aren't getting a college degree.
I wonder if schools are starting to change their own rules for this now...usually you had to complete like 75% or more of your credits at the U to get your degree. But with online classes, with the way people move from one school to another now, I wonder if things are changing.
Do they even go to class nowadays? Seems like they are just there to play football and get paid.

He plays in a second-rate conference. Only good as a short-yardage back. Nothing wrong with that, but he's a role player at RB. We all saw how bad his vision was here. Should be a LB as he would rather hit people than make the correct read as a RB.
Although when he does decide to run someone over he actually gets the job done unlike a certain QB-converted-to-TE that gets absolutely stonewalled by 180 pound DBs.
No reason not to enter the portal as a player. Its kind of dumb not to, being loyal means you get paid less.

There is nothing passive-aggressive about my post. We all saw the guy play. He has no vision as a RB. He is a role player. He is a James Williams at RB.
Gosh, I guess you are right. He's certainly tough to tackle if he gets a few steps & full of steam. I just don't see him as a decent all three downs running back. Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe Georgia just sees him as a depth addition & short yardage plunger.
Bro people are just trying to connect to the past where we humanized college football players, idolized them, and cheered for them. People are just struggling with the fact the sport is dying and there is nothing we can do about it. Just in Scott Frost's first year, we were so excited about an incoming freshman class full of characters, we watched every interview, discussed which ones would DEVELOP into all conference players. Now our roster is going to completely turnover, and not because kids find value in Nebraska, the program, Lincoln or its people, but just because of a little bit more money or so they don't have to compete for a job. At least in the NFL, with the cap, players will sometimes take less more for the coach, culture, environment and a player might feel a kinship with the city. The sport is so screwed and will only subsist as a carcass to entice gambling addicts. The sport thrived on exploiting free labor, giving guys who should be millionaires communications and criminal justice degrees they didn't have to earn, so it had to die eventually, just sucks to view it through the lens of Lincoln and one of the bluebloods.
Dude's gotta be losing credits every year. I bet he will be lucky to be halfway to a degree from Georgia after two semesters there.
No, you're absolutely right. Some of us actually watch these games and remember them.

You bring up some good points. I have approached it from a perspective of what would it take to win and doing whatever it takes. I think Nebraska is fast approaching the fanbase as a whole understanding better what that means and maybe not really wanting to play the game anymore. I have even heard people talk about dropping down to a lower level so we could be more competitive and do things "the right way" or the "Nebraska way". 10 years ago the answer would have been hell no we can still win but we are getting closer every year to it being absolutely clear we will never compete no matter what unless we start playing the game the way the winners do it and so if we don't want to we could shut the program down or find a lower level.
How great is it to be a CFB player right now? Take a dude like DD, guy has bet on himself after every season by transferring, gotten raises every year along the way, is almost certain to be in the playoff next season, prolly have some bigger holes to hit at Georgia.. all the different experiences at the best campuses, you know he's killing it with the ladies.. if he read this thread he'd probably break one of his ribs laughing at some of the posts.
Its been a year and 12 days and Rhule hasnt replaced Dowdell with a Big Back, a "B1G10 type back"....and its been 12 days since the portal opened and haven't replaced the 1800 yards and 15 TDs the Emmett produced(by far the most yards from any RB under rhule in his last 3 teams)....Rhule such a slow learner....So many head scratchers

This revenue sharing model is still new and is constantly changing. At some point, things will stabilize for a period of time, the rules will be more clear and the ability for schools like Nebraska to compete will increase.
I also believe that teams that use the portal exclusively will at some point either miss on some dudes, or will face an injury to a dude that they count on heavily for their success. I brought up Miami and Indiana when it comes to getting QBs in the portal. Miami doesn't even have a portal QB to replace Beck for 2026. An injury to Fernando Mendoza in that 1 deep QB room and Indiana would be home and not playing in the title game. They are, for the 3rd year in a row, bringing in a one year transfer. LIke I wrote, it is great until the QB is injured or performs poorly and when you have no back up....you look like Nebraska
People like King_WRONG and other complete imbeciles on social media have floated the idea that going back to the Big XII or some other backwater conference is a "better fit" as if all the people making huge money and decent money in the athletic department are ever going to consider such an asinine move for one moment.
Good post. I am talking about irl conversations with average people not hardcore fans like those of us on message boards. Many people do not like the direction of college football in the NIL/portal era and when you add on to it that we have sucked so horribly bad for so long they just say it might be time to let go of winning at the level we did previously.
A handful of them would love to just play regional games and run the option with players from Nebraska for hardly any money at all win or lose and not give a crap what other people think. You get to support local kids, culture, and not waste money chasing something that will never happen or lose your identity by doing things that lack character or integrity.
I realize it is a fringe position and I'm not saying it is mine but I understand it. Being a Nebraska fan is exhausting and it sucks to compromise AND still lose. Right now we are almost 25 years into a rebuild and still can't get it. We are as far away now from a national championship as we have ever been after 25 years of trying and the response to that by the staff and boosters and administration has been underwhelming to say the least. So it becomes very reasonable to say things have changed.
Now on the other hand, there still a lot of fans who do not understand the current mechanics of winning and still believe we can win with just a little tweak and if we don't we should fire the coach because that will help even though we have tried that multiple times. Bless their hearts. I think the program is ultimately driven by these folks and so will continue on but the fanbase will become smaller as more folks catch on over time in order of their pattern recognition abilities. There will always be some fans though who like cheering for their losing team as it becomes a community activity and the comiseration over the latest failure then becoming hopeful again together for the slightest reason becomes a ritual which still has a kind of social value. In fact as I type this I am realizing we might have arrived at that last part just not everyone has caught on yet.
It used to be the kids were taken advantage of and the coaches had all the power. Pendulum has swung big time.
Oregon was one win away from the national title game and had to rely on a guy(at rb) IN the transfer portal because two other guys decided it was more important to sit in the portal than play for a national title for Oregon. Ole Miss had to shed coaches during preparation for the semi-finals because their coach left, took coaches with him, who were employed by LSU but still kind of coaching for Ole Miss. Ole Miss of course lost with a QB who was caught trying to get a 6th year while lying about being sick, and instead of going to NFL he will sue the NCAA in Mississippi, get an injunction and be allowed to play another year..which will just open the door to more guys making up reasons why they can't move on, sue in their home state to win an injunction and end up playing. And those are the successful teams, just imagine the teams who can't build a roster and still expect "donations" and hand-outs to pay players, while coaches and players make millions to lose. The sport was already in dire shape with shrinking attendance and viewership going back years, the NIL and transfer will certainly give the illusion that big donors can shape the sport but their money isn't bottomless and how many 50-100 million dollar payrolls can be paid before donors realize the kids just want to film tik toks on the field and don't really care about winning. I am just waiting for the first kid to enter the transfer portal at halftime of a playoff game because his team is getting blown out and he doesn't want to look bad.
College football has always been a niche, amateur sport. That is what made it great. It was celebrated in places that didn't have NFL teams, and you had a lot of home state kids going to play against big national teams. I honestly believe states could build High school super teams and compete in a national playoff and it would be brilliant and very popular, the problem is NIL has already poisoned that well as kids are already moving states and getting paid. I could see FCS or D2 become more and more popular as the Power 2 kind of dies and becomes G league or farm system of the NFL. The playoffs are giving a little burst of enjoyment to a dying sport but it is dying nonetheless.
Agreed. I of course have no issue with players getting to eat too, but the portal is an abomination.
Power 2 is running on pure inertia from a public interest standpoint. The tik tok generation will not be picking up this mantle.

Well, coaches and players still have the power...fans and donors are just spending 1000x more for a worse product in every way. Our coaches in the 90s, coaches who won every year for decades had to sweat about losing their job and made 1/10th of what guys make today...our current coach just got extended by millions for beating Cincinnati and winning 7 out of 13 games. I would say coaches are still in control.
Colleges bend over backward to keep kids eligible both with on-line classes, recorded classes, and personal tutors. I am good with that. Kids are flying all over the place to play.
