@OCBoy you don't have either a Champion or Runner-Up selected for all of your Classes, except C6. In each Class there should be 1 team marked with an * to indicate Runner-Up and 1 team marked with ** to indicate the Champion.

Since I had the idea of this contest so near the start of the season, I am extending the entry deadline through Wed midnight of next week. So if you haven't entered yet, you have a week to do so. If you have entered and want to make any edits, you have a week to do so.

Class 5A

is going to be interesting down here in the 757... Salem VB was my Beach District pick in the Spring. But they've had a coaching change & their QB transferred to Maury (Reg B)!

Green Run may have the most talent but without having a tradition for having a tough defense, I'm not sure how far that gets them.

Indian River has some good, young players that could allow them to make a run. They have as good a chance as the others. Next year, they should be ready.

Bayside is my sleeper team. They have reduced some severe sloppiness and are playing tougher. They've always had talent in the past but their previous coaches just didn't get them ready to play.

Region B

Maury & Nansmond River will likely play for that title. But Maury seems to keep getting key transfers & their new QB from Salem VB could put them right back into the mix for another late playoff meeting vs Highland Springs.

Woodside could upset that prediction.

I have to ask because of my Saved by the Bell childhood, Is AC Slater the football coach at Bayside?

I'll ignore that at risk of losing my man card. But Bayside ruled the Beach District for those years after Landstown did & before Coach Scott led Ocean Lakes. Those years produced UVA teammate's:

Trey Nicholson
Smoke Mizzel
Quin Blanding

But, for the last decade, during each season, they'd beat a top opponent then lose the next game to a far worst team.

I believe they got a new coach in 2019 or in the Spring 20... Now they're showing signs of more consistency and better toughness. It's just a matter of time IMHO before they are the team to beat in the Beach District again.

After this week's games in the 757, it looks like Phoebus is ready to be a strong contender for Class 3A but how one chooses between 4 teams that recently won Class 3&4 titles, I'm not sure. Even with a blowout loss, Lake Taylor can't be ruled out!

If there's a team that can improve enough to win a regional title, it's the Titans! I believe one year they actually did get blown out by Freedom (W) their 1st game of the year & either won the Title or the Semi State game that same year.?

In Class 5A Green Run vs Salem vs I. River still a 3 headed coin flip.

In Class 4A, despite getting torched by Smith last Friday, I might have to give Deep Creek the edge over Kings Fork. Anthony Barnes is almost unstoppable running the ball. He isn't a terrible passer & opposition Defenses will get burnt if they stack the box vs the Hornets they way Smith did. Our Safety / DB combo is not going to be matched by any other team they'll face again.
