I’ll post it twice so that you can take a nice long look at how censorship progresses.

Meh. The people who own a book choosing not to publish doesn't bother me in the slightest. They could go this route, they could go the looney tunes route and put a disclaimer page in. Doesn't affect me or you one iota if a company decides not to publish books with racist caricatures in it.

You were still all hyping each other up into a frenzy over fake news before, and it's still hilarious. Oh, to have so few real problems that this is what bothers you.

It went from “it’s still available in the school library” to “now some won’t be published” in 24 hours. That’s certainly not “fake news”.

Just think: you would make a perfect Nazi or Stalinist with your beliefs. Not a pretend Nazi like you all call Republicans; an actual supporter of censorship. You’re a real shining light.

Any decision under threat or duress is not voluntary. So this is not voluntary.

Kids books about mythical creatures are not and cannot be racist. The reader assigning racism to the creatures is the one actually exhibiting racism.

This was about depictions of humans, not about depictions of non-human creatures

They made the decision last year before anything really came up about it.

Not saying some Dr. Seuss are or aren’t racist because I haven’t read one of those books in likely over 25 years, so I have no idea what the context is. But it’s pretty dumb to assume a child’s book can’t be racist. Negative racial stereotypes (or any other non-racial derogatory stereotypes) that are generally considered derogatory can easily be attributed to non-human animated characters. It’s been done numerous times throughout history.

Yes. Every culture does this. Are we going through the museums next to purge?

It is unreal how quickly some of you are abandoning what are supposed to be our common values. And you wonder why some people are talking about splitting the country.

I saw this article from a couple years ago.

They show a series of images from around the world in one book, with stereotypical drawings of Asian and Arab people, then one of African natives depicted as more of an ape than a man.

Those aren't people. I don't recall ever seeing a Dr seuss book with people. Mythical humanoids don't count.

If anyone sees racism there, it's because they're projecting their own racism onto the characters.

Same thing with people who assign racist status to monkey or ape imagery. Guess who the racist really is?

Other than the black ones, all the others are pretty clearly humans.

I've got family saying that these mythical characters have no influence over children whatsoever but Harry Potter books should be burned because they're making kids worship Satan. I'm talking actually asked school libraries to get rid of them.
Don't get them started on the teletubbies either.

Were your relatives effective at getting them verboten on eBay?

Did the president echo their opinion?

I don't know a single black person who gives 2 ***** about dr. Seuss books, or uncle ben's rice, or aunt jemima syrup. You know who whines about racism the most? Young liberal white people.

When public entities or major corporations censor Harry Potter, please get back to us.

Good to see a liberal admit that their behavior compares with that of other religious nuts. The thing is, the liberal religion is much more destructive and has no redeeming qualities.

The publishers certainly made a great business decision to quit publishing a few books nobody was buying anymore anyway. Now every Dr. Suess book is selling at record sales and prices are going crazy. Trump fans are so easily duped that it would be funny, if they weren't still allowed to vote.
