What a great idea, the amount of money wagered/paid is pretty staggering. They are on the verge this morning of signing a huge investment deal with Fox per my Tweeting website, so apparently it's here to stay.

They are literally everywhere at the MLB All Star Game events. My dad messes around with it in NFL season and sometimes golf, but hasn't won much. I haven't really asked him how it works though.

I did it during the NBA season and it's really fun. I always did the 2 player heads up and occasionally a guarantee. My buddy bought a new TV with his winnings from doing PGA.

I've had friends win a few grand during the NBA season on Fanduel. None of the huge tournaments.

It's nice being able to set up a one night league amongst friends, and throw the same team into various other tourneys.

For like $6 worth of exposure, you can have the possibility of making a few hundred.

And you don't need the attention span of managing a team throughout the entire season.

Well well worth it during the NBA season in my opinion. Couldn't really care less about MLB or NFL.

Also, it's not just something a casual fan is going to hop into and be successful at consistently without research and other analytics.

The legal argument that sets it apart from gambling is that it is a game of skill. And that's absolutely true.

So start by investing in Rotogrinders or something.

Have several people that swear by it attempt to get me in every year. At the end of each sport season I try to get real answers of winnings after and no one discusses it. But when a good week happens I hear about it in detail.

I think it is a lot like those online poker sites where if your good at it the site recruits you to play a lot more and gives you a kick back for keeping action going and drawing in more people by always having games/chances etc.

You seem to have a great handle on a few sports so it may be worth a shot.

I did Fanduel last season. It's a lot of fun, I made a little money, not much. I'll definitely get into it again this year.

Up about 7k in 2015 (got lucky and won 5k in a tournament in May). Actually started last year by using Fanduel to liquidate gift cards for manufactured spending... got hooked and moved to DK for every day play. I've played most sports but focus on NBA, CBB and MLB on DK. Won the most with MLB, but have a better ROI with CBB...there just aren't a lot of high dollar CBB tournaments.

Don't 'invest' in Rotogrinders. Ever. That will be a wasted $20 of whatever they charge for that massed produced crap. ESPN insider DFS content is better than Rotogrinders, and you probably already have that.

Message me if you get serious about it, especially if you plan to play NBA, CBB or MLB. You'll need advanced statistics, lineup optimizers and scripts to do really well.

Been playing it off and on since last NFL season. Definitely not a good thing for casual play - it takes quite a bit of research to make any sort of a decent payout, especially if you are wanting to play in the "big money" tournaments. Baseball is the worst in terms of the amount of research it can involve Sure, you can get lucky, but it won't last - research is necessary...

All the big tournies have the usual sharks who enter 100+ lineups in each one, and those guys are usually, but not always, the ones who rake in the big dollars. One of the recent million dollar PGA ones was won by someone with a single entry, so it can happen.

I've been playing with MLB daily, usually throwing in cash on the Quarter Arcade tournaments, quarter leagues, and the ticket qualifiers (top finishers get a free $3, $5, etc. ticket for any future event or a bigger ticket for a specific tournament) and playing my tickets in bigger ones. Its fun, but you won't get rich on the little ones like that. Just stockpiling tickets and such for NFL season mostly, with the occasional $100 week here and there.

I won two $20 tickets for this week's PGA millionaire maker, so maybe I'll be the next one. (I will win about $2 - can almost bet on it)

There is also a Reddit group for DFS that has several links to resources like weather, odds, etc. The group is /r/dfsports.

/r/sportsbook can also have some good info from time to time.

Jonathan Bales has some pretty good books on the subject, and at least one is currently free on Amazon.

Not really, it's like poker in that there are a lot of fish out there. It's no surprise that in this thread the only winner focuses on sports that are almost daily and run for long periods of time.

Obviously more fish(regular everyday folks) that way.

Football there is probably slim winnings there because it's all in one day and an overwhelming amount in that day lose to the Sharks.

You could just get some of your buddies who would be into it and do a few leagues a week or however often against each other. I'd say during NBA season you could get some guys from here to do some on a regular basis.

Um yeah, that's basically it.

I'm giving Fanduel a check for 10 percent to provide the platform, scoring, updates, etc. on a convenient app rather than having to track all that **** separately. 5 friends at $5 per is a $22.50 payout is it not? If it's that big of a deal, play for small money in the app and multiply it outside the app.

So yeah unless you enjoy competing against your friends, talking **** with them, not having to design and track your own DFS system, etc. you should probably refrain from setting up tourneys with your friends.

Edit: Also you're playing against them with your fanduel account money that easily transfers around.

It a super easy efficient way to gamble with your friends in a night. The 10% cut to fanduel is money well spent.

That's kinda it. But what the courts have actually determined to be the difference between gambling and betting on fantasy sports is...chance. Which makes absolutely no sense to me.

I don't use draftkings but have participated on Fanduel. It's pretty fun. Unless you are very good at it, you have to learn how to handle your lumps and control how much money you are putting on your account. It can get addicting, especially if you go on a big losing streak and get the "I only need one big payoff" mentality.

I'm on card #2. Shut down in late November, got pending rewards credited after about a month and 100 calls then signed up again for the 50k cap card in March. It's gonna hurt in September when my WF cards are no longer 5%. Most people are getting auto approved for the OBC again if you were shut down, give it a shot.
