And here we go, this is Barker's team. Our fans love the backup quarterback.

People can have this opinion, but there will be a competition this spring that probably rolls into the fall. Barker will likely get first snaps this spring, but this is only his team if he wins the competition.

I would love that. I would also love it if SJ won the competition. I simply want the best QB at the wheel for this offense and I want that QB to be very good.

If any fan has decided on a QB in February before Gran and Hinshaw get to see the QBs on the field in the context of a real offense, there is a problem, perhaps a bias that has nothing to do with which QB is best.

Barker has proper weight, but he doesn't have proper speed to run as a QB.

Johnson only needs to gain 10-15 pounds. Considering that he's been on campus for a week now, he really has plenty of time to bulk up.

Both quarterbacks need to learn the new system. Both were given the same amount of time, and both are in the process of learning.

Drew Barker nearly has just as little SEC game experience as Stephen Johnson does, and experience means very little if you're not very good at the college level. Right now, Barker isn't very good, but has a chance to be.

We'll have to wait and see.

Johnson looks like a skinny kid. I suspect his metabolism is off the charts. UK has experts to work with him, but adding weight may not be as easy as some suggest. Clearly, adding weight has not been a priority in the past. Hopefully, he can add good weight and strength. But, he looks like a kid who owns a furnace for a gut.

I would not be surprised if they both play a lot of snaps depending on the need. They are very different players. Johnson may do some wildcat formations. It's going to be exciting how next year plays out. No where as cut and dry as last year especially with the new coaches and their offensive philosophies

Gran and Hinshaw, I believe, have said they do not like using 2 QBs. They want a starter who gets all the snaps.

I agree. I don't think a team can win playing two quarterbacks. Players need repetitions with the same players at the same time. I do think it hurt Towles by giving Barker 50% of the reps in practice this past season.
