Just watched Daton's interview on Flo. It starts out pretty tough, but gets better a a minute or two in. He said a few things that really stood out. One was his love for Stillwater and OSU Wrestling and desire to stay LONG term. He also lights up when talking about getting to scrap in the practice room against Gilman. There's a few points in the interview where it seems like he's almost about to speak candidly about how excited he is for the change but instantly reigns himself in and just makes a generic positive comment.

I've thought for years now, that he really needs an outside perspective to help open his wrestling up a bit, and now it's so bleeping awesome that he is going to get that perspective while getting to stay in Stillwater!

I think we may start to see a new side of Daton. Not specifically in his wrestling but he just seems to have a different demeanor in this interview

I was struck by something Gilman said. He said (probably not word for word) that Daton is in the same situation now that he, Gilman, was in when he went to Penn State. Maybe this is true but in Daton's case, Penn State is coming to him.

His freshman year he had Picc to roll with now he has Gilman. I think he will jump a few levels, specially since Taylor seems the be making fix his primary example of how we can develop talent. I bet he does the same with Plot.

We would like to say that our alumni left for various reasons, and some may have, but we were not providing our wrestlers, under grad and post grad, the resources needed to be win. This is certainly not a knock on JS, he could win in any age or environment. He had coached for 33 years. The sport has evolved, but the generational gap has widened even more. If john was a movie, he would be Rocky I. I’m not sure which movie you would compare current athletes to, but it’s not RockyI.

jamison and thompson are defensive control oriented guys who can set the standard for what this new staff will bring to the program

both are extremely strong and i can see making huge jumps
