Doesn't that mean money is actually a factor and they put that out there before he goes to LSU, so he will end up at LSU?

We will see how it plays out

No it doesn’t.

This is a great story. I sure hope he signs tomorrow. It sounds like we will have several options at quarterback next year.
Obviously it’s imperative that we get a SEC caliber offensive line to protect whoever starts next year. We also need a good OC. We really have a lot of talent at all the skill positions for a 4 and 8 team and they are very young. Of course we don’t know who we will lose in the portal or to the NFL draft.

If we counting on returning players wouldn’t we expect the same results? We need better players ready to contribute day one

I actually agree. Jacobs, Bennet, Brown and Rowe are really solid receivers. Harbor just really wasn't that great for anything except deep posts. In fact, Sellers has gotten a lot of flack for the Clemson game, but Harbor was directly responsible for the pick 6, which hit him directly in the hands, and a fumble to clinch the game for clemson at the end. I also think Howell and fuller are better than Faison and adaway. If we have a half competent OC and even a mediocre OL we can win games.

So here we go again. The highest bidder.

I would assume this is just the new norm for any top recruit. You'll have the oddballs who just want to play at a particular school, without regard for NIL, or those who have a more mature outlook and aren't focused on NIL, but for most kids, I would assume this is just how it's going to be.

Good thing we have all that money I keep reading about. Shows we’re serious.

In the comments where his mom said money wasn't a factor in his decision, she said if it was, he would have committed somewhere else. That's the most definitive comment I've heard regarding our NIL resources.

You never want to lose a recruiting battle, but at some point you have to be willing to walk away. How much of a financial commitment is worth it for a high schooler who hasn't set foot on a college football field yet?

No. You can simply look at the games we failed to win and see that overwhelmingly bad coaching decisions were made. Sellers made plenty of mistakes, but you normally don't see a player regress like that because he became less skilled or talented.

If you can afford x amount for a qb, go find a qb who will take that amount.

If you cant afford a Ferrari, go buy what you can afford.

That being said, one has to wonder if we should settle on qb and divert some funds to OL.

Apparently Vandy and UGA were both offering about the same NIL for Curtis. Curtis wanted to go where he could play right away. Kirby let him know that probably wasn't going to happen unless he could beat out Stockton, which would have been pretty impossible, so Curtis went to Vandy where Lea has promised him the starting job.

Does Stockton have another year of eligibility? He enrolled in 2021. This is his 5th year. He didn't get the 2020 Covid "pass" extra year.

Oh dang, I thought he was primed to go to Columbia in 2021 before his decommitment. Dayum wrong, I was.
I don't recall the timeline, but I want to say he committed to us in 2019. It was way far out.

Turns out it was click bait.. congrats on biting.

If it was clickbait, every recruiting expert and Gamecock sports reporter and outlet on the planet bit.

You're not nearly as smart as you think you are. It absolutely confirmed by every outlet that LSU and Lane were making a late push to flip him.
