They're making a 8-4 UIC team look pathetic. In a completely different class. Sure, they're not playing Duke. But man they took a top 10 Auburn team to the wire and beat Sparty in Lansing.

Doubling up a MVC team at halftime is impressive.

Top half of B1G standings end of season is plausible.

I’ve enjoyed the tough D & they’re blowing inferior teams out in ways that past NU teams rarely/never did. Some compelling pieces. I want to believe, but I don’t. Yet. But watching with interest. Let’s see how we’re collectively feeling around Feb 1.

Berry sure gets a nice share of rebounds and as 3rd guard or wing that makes up for some loss off height. MN size and bulk presence allows 3 guard offense needed to get scoring on floor. Berry does stretch D and allows for Boo and Chase to play their attacking style. Kopp is bigger than Berry but surprisingly few rebounds given his build. BB will be a good wing paired with Berry next year.

Berry was really good today on the defensive rotation when they kick the ball to the corner and he comes down to guard the post from a drive.

How many more wins do they need for the tourney? 6 or 7?
If the announcers are correct that 9 BIG wins might be enough. That would be 6. That probably does not include BTT wins and since there is a recency factor in how things are viewed have to think 7 would be needed to be sure as 6 out of last 16 down the stretch does not sound great. 7 of last 16, while still under 0.500, would have us at 10-10 in conference and as tough as BIG is that would likely be plenty. Missing that would likely require at least one win in BTT. In any event, we have a solid start

I thought that last foul was BS. Looked like IU threw an arm at him to create contact as Berry pedaled away. But I agree that Berry is much more part of the game this year.

He also got mugged by Galloway on an inbounds play down the stretch and no foul was called. Overall a very active and effective game by Berry.

I agree, but the call in Berry's favor immediately before was also BS. Berry just went out of bounds with the ball and the other guy made the mistake of touching his shoulder - but there was about zero contact and no push imho.

I think they need to get to 11-9. They are still in the 50s in most rankings and need to get to the high 30s or low 40s, especially with their relatively weak non-conference schedule.

It’s only when you plug in 8 more wins in BartTorvik (basically winning the rest at home other than Purdue and winning at Nebraska) that we get to a 10 seed.

It goes both ways. Audige had a play in the first half where he jumped and tried a reverse layup. Came up short and they called a foul when no one touched him.

But we have our biases, I am sure they complain about robbery at Rupp Arena and Allen Fieldhouse. Where the zebras swallow their whistles so much when it comes to hurting the home team.

Thing is, I think this season we are and will benefit from being a "physical" team. It's weird how weaker teams get hurt more as the refs have the instinct that if they are not as strong it's more often a foul when they contest plays. While the stronger ones can murder someone and that is instinctively seen as just a stronger body banging into some player.
