Batavia- The Bulldogs win in a shoot out 37-26.

StE- GBN will be the first team to slow StE down but won't be able to score so it will all be for not 17-6.

WWS- The Tigers shut out streak ends but they still win big 42-6.

StN- The North Stars win a tight one in the best game of the week 21-17.

I think this is one of the easier weeks to pick. Just one game I had to really think about. Now that I say that watch a couple of huge upsets transpire to mess up my good start towards the much coveted Clown Cup! I want it shaped like a clown head with a red nose and everything!

Batavia - by 3 TDs
Saint Charles East - by 3 TDs
WWS - by 5 field goals (or 15 points)
Saint Charles North - by 10 points.

To make things a little more interesting we have a new competitor in the Clown Cup this week it is the Cal Preps predictor, can you pick better then a nerd in California that wrote an algorithm?

Batavia 31-10
StE 28-6
WWS 40-7
StN 21-14

Batavia over Lake Park: Too much for LP
StE over GBN: I think this could end up being a pretty solid game but Chuck E wins by 2 scores
WWS over Geneva: I still have a hard time accepting that Geneva is a program in disarray considering it wasn't all that long ago that they were very good year in and out. WWS starters enjoy most of the second half from the sidelines
StN over WN: Coin flip game for me but Chuck N avoids 1-2 with a close win

BAT
SCE
WWS
SCN

Best match-up is WN vs SCN and could go either way. WN is really young and SCN QB now has game against a tougher opponent in bolingbrook under his belt. Edge to SCN.

Wow I am shockingly close to the nerd in California in terms of score prediction. I am only off on the WWS game by a wide margin 18 points everything else is same exact spread or 1pt to 3pt difference.

For that feat - I think I deserve a Mulligan card for use later in the season When the matchups are really tough!!;):p

Does everyone have an idea as what's up at Geneva? Once strong program with 9-10 years of of playoff runs, they have been down last 3 years and this one. Any key assistants leave or everything still the same? I doubt the staff forgot how to coach overnight.

I was at Geneva/Notre Dame week 1, Geneva looked like a JV team. Maybe 2 lineman that looked like small college players and everyone else should be on a sophomore team.

Just a bad group of classes? Batavia and both St. Charles school have been playing at a high level as of last few years, figured Geneva would be as well.

I posted this in the Montini/ Willowbrook thread but programs have natural cycles it’s tough to maintain a really high level for more then 10 years and Geneva was really top flight for a while. I just think they are in a bad cycle the only question is how long it lasts? They were pretty bad in the early 2000’s before finding their stride. I would imagine in a few years they will be good again and someone else in the conference will struggle, maybe it will be their rivals over in Batavia?

3rd Friday in a row with crappy weather for most of these games. Can't catch a break this year.

What is interesting in Geneva is that about 10 years ago a few planned developments open up. Most of those families had young kids. Those kids are in 8th-10th grade. If you look at their enrollment stats, their fresh soph classes are much greater than upper clasmen. Based on upperclass enrollment, they should be 5a instead.
