Duke could have a very spread out attack next year

It's hard to tell; so many moving parts. I think Steward will be hot and cold; people seem to be insanely high on him for a top 25 guy. Hurt Moore and Johnson should all average around 14 imo. Steward 9 or so like Hurt this year. Brakefield should get 9 or 10 a game if he gets the minutes. Roach too.

If you don't care to check out the article the bottom line is I think Duke will have a very balanced attack on offense next year. Who do you think the top scorers are next year?

Are we talking about this year next year or the next year? I have no idea what season we’re talking about anymore. I’m reading Wendell Moore and Matthew Hurt are gone after this season, we are hoping for someone to reclassify, who’s going to take so and so’s spot when they leave, I mean this is insane. We don’t even know to what extent, or how much, or even if there will be a season this year.
Where’s the Tylenol?

I feel like every single year it's discussed how much depth Duke will have and how balanced the scoring will be, and it never is, that's just not K's preferred style it seems. K knows who his best players are and he runs the offense to put those guys in best position to score.

I do feel like this year is a bit different, mainly because there isn't a guaranteed 18 ppg guy on the roster, there could be a few, or there could be none, no guarantees this year. Years past we had Vernon, Zion/RJ, Bagley, Kennard/Tatum, etc. We knew going into the season who was gonna score the most.

I'm high on JJ, but he is a pass first guy, so we will see. I'd love to see Hurt improve and put on muscle, but that's not a guarantee. Moore will never be a pure scorer, but I think his all around game will be excellent. Steward will probably have some games of 20 and some games of 2, same with Joey.

we don't seem to have alphas outside of Hurt Moore and JJ. And they are not Zion RJ type alphas. Unless the guards or Brakefield exceed expectations. Joey is kind of a sleeping giant who could explode this year.

The fact Duke does not have a guaranteed 18 ppg scorer is partly why it feels like a year where the scoring could be very balanced. While there is nobody who seems to have a very high ceiling in the scoring department, there are at least five who I feel are capable of averaging double digits. I think you nailed it about Steward and Baker, I do not expect Duke will be able to consistently rely on either but both will have their nights.

JJ Redick actually talked about this on one of his recent podcasts, when he had Seth Curry on. He said the reality is things aren't equitable at Duke, like it or not. K is going to cater things to his best players, and ride the heck out of them. JJ and Seth laughed because at different times, they were that dude getting stuff run for them a ton.

Next year, those guys are going to be Hurt and Johnson, and to a lesser extent Moore. I think Moore will get less things run directly for him because he seems to be one of those "jack of all trades, master of none types." Very similar to a Chris Carrawell in a lot of ways. That is by no means an insult - Moore is going to be huge and have as much impact on the outcome of the game as any player on the roster night in and night out. He might end up being Duke's most important player with all the ways he can affect the game on both ends. The other two guys just might be a little more polished from an offensive standpoint.

I could see all averaging 10+ PPG next season....Hurt/Moore/Johnson/DJ/Roach

With Johnson and Hurt leading the way (around 15-17 PPG) I think DJ might be Dukes 3rd Leading scorer next season. They will need him to be pretty consistent next season. And I think he will Be up for the task-he’s the best overall shooting prospect Duke has had since Luke.

Guys like Joey and Brakefield will have their nights scoring 15-20. Really hope we can see a consistent Joey Buckets for a solid 15ish mins next season!

Duke will have many talented bodies 1-11 next season!

Completely agree on Moore. Wouldn't surprise me if he's averaging around 12 ppg but is clearly Duke's best player and impacts the game more than anyone, a lot like Justise Winslow (though I'd still say Okafor was the best player on 2015).

The great part of that 2015 class (2014 really) is that it was so balanced. You had a beefy center, an athletic Battier type wing, a true PG and a shooter/slasher in Allen.
