Are we the only team in organized football that don't have a backup quarterback to try to get some life into the offense?

Idk if you guys caught that on tv, but on the pick 6, the Syracuse player threw the ball in the stands. One of our fans caught it and we were all calling for him to be put in the game. Best receiver in duke gear I’ve seen all night.
Just my opinion but the unc cheater loss took a lot of fire out for this team . Just hasn't been the team sense. Shouldn't be taken as an excuse and not suggesting that. These guys should have been big enough to bounce back. Coache's can only do so much. The motivation is not there . ALloyd we need to do is observe this team today. OFC
Welp! I think our bowl hopes might have just vanished. First half of the season went very well, but second half of the season has been ugly!
This team doesn’t deserve a bowl, it’d be a loss anyways.
i had read a lot of chatter on different sites that cutt lost the offensive units trust at the end of the first half of the pitt game by not even trying to score but settling for a missed fg. have heard the rest of the team threw their hands up with the jump pass against uncsux. i dont know but it sure looks like they are done for the year to me. i dont think we win another game.
Program appears to be in free fall. Fan support and attendance is awful. Recruiting is not good. I just can’t see the current staff be able to turn things around.
Surf you always come up with the scoop, and I have NO DOUBT you are correct! This is last year all over again (Wake last year)but much worse considering we were double digit faves yesterday! Change at top needed- might get team at least a pulse, and off llife support....

But unfortunately it was on TV. A head coach is only as good as his assistants and his QB. Cutt has lost this team sad to say. They are definitely not in it.
Was too mad to post yesterday. Part of that anger was directed at me for being dumb enough to think any game was a gimme at this point. That second half, I don't know if there are words to describe it. Disgraceful, pathetic, embarrassing all come to mind. They never came out of the locker room, I swear.
Man, if you get in good with coach Cut, you are set for life. Doesn't matter how much you suck at your job, you have it for life. That goes for coaching positions, and starting quarterback positions. I have been done with Quentin since the Pitt game. Seems like a standup dude, but he's not at this level. That's just the truth. I had been pretty optimistic about the team, had been trying to be glass half full all season, but I finally broke yesterday.

It may near the beginning of the end for Cut. With that said who out there who may or may not bring Duke into even more success that Cut has is ready to take it on. Now keep it mind he must be a well established and successful and winning coach or an upcoming young assistant or a coach from a mid level winnin program. I must admit I don't know who's out there that can do this. I certainly don't another line of coaches who preceeded Cut. We would start whining then. Now I know many of your who are big Duke football fans know more about it than I do. What I would like is a list of names and what they have accomplished and if you have a favorite name . I'm sincere about this because I love Duke football and I just could not take other long unc cheater u win run. OFC

I feel your pain Sky. I think the next two weeks could be brutal. If so I think it is inevitable that a coaching change has to be made.
Fan support is bad and will only get worse going into next season if a change is not made. The product I have seen on the field the last couple season’s just want generate enough enthusiasm to make them want to come back.
If the money is right and with the improved facilities Duke should be able to attract a number of quality coaching candidate’s. The right hire would create the kind of excitement that would increase interest and fan support for the program.
We all should appreciate what Cut has done to bring respectability back to Duke football. Hopefully he recognizes that he has taken the program about as far he can and it’s time to hand over the reigns to someone else and bow out gracefully.

The thing about it we are not Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St. LSU, or even Stanford or unc cheater u that has the appeal for a top of the line coach. I so hope I am wrong. It would be great to get a young and brilliant coach who could convince 4 and 5 stars high school football players that Duke will be a contender for the bowl championships. Like I said in a post before I don't think I could accept another run we had before Coach Cut came. He doesn't have a lot of years anyway and it bothers me as a Duke fan to hear so much criticism from this board of great Duke fans and friends. I am forever Coach Cut came our way. One thing you guys have to know is I am what I am. I'm a Duke fan from the tip of my hat to the bottom of my toes. My wife says I'm obsessed with Duke and she is right. It's fortunate that in my older years I have toned it down a little when I run into an obnoxious , arragont , entitled, egotistical, self absorbed , pied piper unc cheater u who feels they have to go out of their way to come over and make a comment about my Duke gear. I usually have a subtle comment because I am a Duke fan. I can't help it. It's my nature. But at my age if I responder the way I would have 25 or 30 years ago I could sue some heel trolls for assault on an elderly person. OFC
I think Cut has done a good job and several years ago they were exciting to watch. This offense the last couple of years is pitiful and making poor decisions going for it on fourth down. The play against Carolina with the jump pass with a small back probably lost some fan support. The bottom line you have to sell tickets and it's not happening.
It’s just unfortunate that we can’t get a 4 star recruit much less a 5 star. It’s the same with all acc schools except Clemson, who gets what they want and occasionally VT, Miami, Pitt, FSU, UNC might land a 4 star. We are in the same boat with Wake, NCSU and usually Va. great players just choose to go elsewhere where they know they will be contenders.
A team does not need a lot of 4 stars to be competitive. Look at Wake, Baylor, Boise State, Northwestern. I'm not expecting Duke to be a consistent top 25 team. But I am hoping to see a team that is not repeatedly placed in bad positions by a coaching staff which is either unwilling or unable to at least try to change and to replace that which obviously cannot work. I can stand losing games, but not just giving them away. How many consecutive quarters of Q underperforming does Cutt need to just try someone else?
No a team doesnt need a lot of 4 star players to be good but they need a few and we usually dont get any. We did get 4, four stars a couple of years ago and what I read seems like less than 8 since 2011. We usually get more 2 stars than 4 stars and you cannot field a good team unless you have good recruits. I agree that Q is not getting it done but I dont know the solution and it seems Cutt doesn't either. I'm just saying that kids dont line up at the coaches door and say I want to go to Duke to play football. The Cheaters loss did much bad stuff to our team and it being exposed now. Now on to the next basketball game.
With you all the way Sky, as Cut's plateaued and I dont see things getting better. Time for some young blood... OFC

The big question is will the guy at App. take Duke. That's going to be the key . What successful current coach or very successful up and coming young coach is willing to come to Duke with its resourses, it's basketball tradition, recruiting and other challenges. I want names.It seems the majority of Duke fans want Cut gone but no one knows of a replacement.I get "oh there are lots of candidates" but no specific names other than your suggesting the guy at App. St. I"ll be perfectly honest when we got Cut I almost croaked to get a coach of his caliber.OFC
Sky I am not worried about "names" so much. In-depth study by a Duke search committee can handle that. Remember also, Tom Butters discovered a coach at Army for basketball, no one had ever heard about. Hes had a pretty good run of about 40 years. Not worried about "names."OFC
