Finishing your season 3-3 is not typical for a one seed. Duke still has the ACCT to stake a claim. I don't know that they have to win, but if they make the finals it will be a real conversation.

Watching some games on CBS yesterday, the studio crew was talking to the committee chair (Stanford AD) and he talked specifically about Zion and evaluating Duke with him in the ACCT.

Gotta get out of that L'vile site with UK. S16 & E8 would be road games.

Luckily, the NCAA doesn’t look at the last 10 games, they look at the overall resume. With all things being equal, that 34 point win looks better now since Kentucky ended up being good and they didn’t have any missing players during that game. Yes, they’ve improved, but Duke has been injured. Those two cancel each other out and all your left with is head to head (assuming similar results in the conference tournament).

That is ridiculous that UK has the possibility of playing in Louisville. That is a way unfair advantage

I don't mind if they're in Louisville and the #1 seed. But if the committee somehow puts them in Louisville and they're on the 2-line? There's something wrong with that.

I still think only Virginia and Gonzaga have locked up #1 seeds. Four teams - UK, Tennessee, UNC and us - are vying for the last two spots.

If we win the ACCT with Zion, then at worst we're the second #1 seed, maybe top overall. If we don't advance to at least the finals of the ACCT, then we're going to be a 2-seed. I feel as though if UNC loses to us with a healthy Zion, it probably makes them a 2.

If we make the ACCT final and UNC loses to us in the semis, and neither Tennessee or UK win the SECT, then I think it's very possible for the ACC to get three #1 seeds.

I would actually take that bracket for us right now if I could.

UNC would be getting screwed as the #1 seed in the South with UK as the two, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I'd be pissed if it was us, though.
Don't know that I would love playing Kansas in Kansas City, but certainly preferable to playing UK in Louisville. The way I see it, if UK beats Tenn in the SEC semis, then the loser of Duke/UNC will be the 2 seed in their bracket almost no matter what.

The loser of Duke/UNC can't get put as the 2 in the East (UVA) or the Midwest (Duke/UNC winner). So, its either the South or the West. With Gonzaga likely to be the #1 or #2 overall seed and UK likely to be the #3 or #4 overall seed, the Duke/UNC loser (as the #5 overall) will get put in the South as the strongest 2 seed to face the "weakest" 1 seed, as well as for geography purposes.

UK is really the only team I want to avoid before the Final Four, especially in the state of Kentucky. However, once we are Minneapolis, bring on whomever.

Despite our blowout win over the Cats earlier, things have really tightened up:

hart, good post, and you are right, things are tight. It's going to not only come down to Duke/Ky., but Tennessee must be counted in there also.
I think Gonzaga/Virginia are locks @ 1 seeds, but the ACC/SEC Tourney winners(if Duke/Ky./Tenn. win) will determine the other two 1 seeds.
Since I really don't care what happens in the SEC, I will say this: If Duke gets to the ACC final, they will be a 1 seed, if they win the ACCT, Duke will jump to the #1 overall seed. Just my opinion.
Go Duke!

That's just the benefit of being a 1 seed in the tourney. We often start off playing in Greensboro/Charlotte/Raleigh.

With the Zags losing, the winner of the ACC tourney will be the overall number one seed assuming it's UVA,DU, or UNC. More than likely in the east, with the loser getting the south. If UK wins the sec they'll go to the Midwest, most likely. The Zags still get a one seed out west, as the overall 4th number one seed. The loser of a third matchup (assuming neither team gets upset) between Duke and Carolina gets the overall highest 2 seed ( big 10 champ gets thethind tit) and gets Gonzaga as their one. I'd rather not see my Heels play Kentucky again until the f.f. or championship, they are a nightmare matchup for us. UK isn't the same team y'all pounded early on, they have improved alot. It's finally time for some madness. Hopefully there will be a 4th matchup in a Monday night.

I know that it won’t happen but it would be cool if Duke, Virginia, UNC and Gonzaga got the 1 seeds for the simple fact that it would completely piss off RR and the epic meltdown that would follow would be hilarious

As long as Duke isn’t in the South with KY as a 2 seed in Louisville, then I’d love that.
Yeah that would suck and would be totally unfair if Duke to had to play against Kentucky in a virtual home game especially after we had to play South Carolina in a virtual home game for them when we were the higher seed in 2017

There is no team in tournament history that gets back-handed harder than we do when it comes to location. Even if we are the higher seed. Some of it isn’t from committee “punishment” but rather terrible luck.

‘18 - Yep, Kansas was the higher seed but we may as well just played the damn game at Allen Fieldhouse. It was literally their backyard gym.

‘17 - We are #2 seed playing the #7 seed SC in Greenville. Should of just drove an hour south and played on their campus for decoration.

‘16 - 2nd round game vs Yale and we played in their living room. (We won, still mad though)

‘15 - Not the committee’s fault obviously but our F4 game against MSU in Indianapolis was virtually the same as playing in Lansing. I was there. One of the few Duke fans. Half of the crowd had on green, half was blue for UK. Thankfully we are magical in Indy.

‘13 - Second weekend in Indianapolis. Louisville’s region, cool. We play MSU in the S16 and Louisville in the E8. I was also at both games. Same difference as playing in Lansing or the KFC Center in L’Ville. Jesus.

‘11 - Nothing like earning a #1 seed and being punted to the West. It was pretty cool. We got to play #5 seeded Arizona in their natural habitat. The heartland of the Pac-12, about a 20 minute joyride from Hollywood. You know, the #2 in our region (SD St) had we met would of played us a bus trip from home. I remember watching this selection show followed up by a case of Budweiser to drown my committee resentment.

‘10 - #1 seed with an E8 matchup against Baylor in Houston. R U kidding me? Championship game in Indy against Butler. I’m sure you’re aware but Incase not, Butler’s campus is (no exaggeration) 10 minutes from Lucas Oil Stadium. Also attended that game at the Cinderella’s castle. Heavy-Butler crowd would be a severe understatement. Thankfully, Gordon Hayward wasn’t Prime Charming in his final half-court heave.

I could continue. Easily. I know as a Duke fan that you surely remember all of this... But have ya ever layed it out and noticed it at this extent? Good grief man, it’s nuts.

Get to the acc finals and we are the 1 in either the south or midwest. Win the acc and we are the 1 in the east. We control our destiny
If you don't win ACCT and UK wins the SECT I think UK could be 1 in the south and you 2

This doesn’t have to do with this thread but it’s about Kentucky more specifically RR. They are so bothered by and obsessed with Duke right now that it’s pathetic. I lost count but they have like 8-10 different Duke related threads on the first page of RR right now.

If we beat the Holes tonight by more than 2 possessions, we should be a 1 seed, and I think we will get it, no matter what happens with Kentucky. As of right now, Duke has only lost 1 game with our 4 freshmen in lineup.

Bilas sure seemed to be pushing that last night. I believe that UT or UK will win the SECT though

It would rightfully po RR if UK wins the SECT and don't get a 1 seed. Gonzaga? North Carolina? We beat NC head to head. If the scenario you present happens it would be total bias and BS. If UT wins the SECT they should get the 1 seed

That only happens if UK and Tenn losses today

Aren’t you the same guy who said Grant Williams was in the running for POY?

Duke wins tonight and they’re a #1 seed lock. We already know UVA is locked in, and unless one of UK or Tennessee wins the SECT, then UNC might be one, too.

I want the easiest road to the final four as possible. Every season, one region is the easiest. I want that region lol.

I’d be ok with Tennessee getting a 1 seed because that would still piss off RR, maybe not as much as if 3 ACC teams got 1 seeds but it would still piss off RR.

No I disagree. I am a UK fan and if UT wins the SEC I firmly believe they should get a 1 seed. I think most of our posters agree
