What I remember from last year's game is that UVA seemed to know our plays before we ran them. They were almost always in the correct position to stop us. Conversely, we could not figure out their offense or stop their QB. The game was not as close as the final score. Hopefully we have learned a lot from that game. OFC

They're gonna be pissed about losing last week lol. I think we can win but we have to execute and cut out the turnovers. Turnovers have been a yearly thing against UVA.

I'm hoping our offensive line comes out like monsters and makes some holes for Durant/Jackson to run through. That would be absolutely HUGE.
Virginia has had some pass-protection issues in its last two games, loses to Notre Dame and Miami. Duke has to exploit that.

Every Coastal game is like this, because of the wacky road the division seemingly takes every year. However, what makes this one "the biggest" so far IMHO, is the Pitt loss. If we could have just kept them out of the end zone in the final minute, we're 3-0 in conference bound for Charlottesville.
What is it they say, "you can't look back?" So true. Nonetheless we're still TIED for 1st in division, but next two on road (UVA, UNC) LOOM LARGE. I wouldnt even count us out w/2 losses because of the roller coaster ride the Coastal tends to take. OFC
Jones for all his talents, never was able to beat Pitt, Va Tech or UVA. Quinten has a chance to go 2-1 against the three this year with a win Saturday. OFC
Yes unc cheat will be the biggest game of the year to me but I will stop posting this every game if its annoying. OFC
Sky its NOT "ANNOYING." You speak the truth. I could easily layout reasons why every game since 'Bama (nobody expected us to win), has been the most important. Its especially true this year, given the difficulty of the schedule. OFC
Sky, I was not expressing annoyment. I thought your post was tongue in cheek and I was just adding on. The point being that Duke seems to place itself in a position every year where the next game could make or break the season. If I were annoyed at anything (and certainly not your post) it would be the fact that we get no emotional rest from game to game, unless we are playing NCCU or the like. The fact of the matter is that Duke is always going to be playing week to week, year by year. The academic standards don't lend themselves to recruiting high end prospects. I would love to get the occasional top prospect star like Stanford does, but they are in a unique situation being in California.
Duke will probably never out-talent other ACC teams, even in our own division. Having Cutcliffe is a real blessing because we have good coaching and have also raised our recruiting game over the last decade big time. I just think Duke has a ceiling when it comes to getting elite prospects.
I do wish that recruits would take notice, particularly big time Southern recruits, of that first half against Alabama. They beat us bad in the second half but our D kept is in it for a half at least. We made them adjust. That's a sign of good coaching.

You are right! The Pitt loss made this game much more important. To get bowl eligible we need 1 of the next 3 for some breathing room. But, who just wants a bowl game. I want the Coastal and that means winning both of UNC and UVA is very important.

Unfortunately I don’t think we make a bowl game this year, a lot needs to be fixed for 2020
This UNx game is so insane right now. They just HAVE to lose, that would be so emotionally draining.
