even half....just not the Duke usual runs we are accustomed to...lock them down and score 8-10 in a row. All momentum we gain, we lose in 2 possessions from poor shots and defense. Young is an understatement for this group but will be used to explain away the inadequacies

Stick with the team through thick and thin and it’s thin right now no doubt, but every team has a down year. This seems to be our down year. If we are going to have a down year, this would be the year to have one.
Izzo usually has a tough schedule early and takes some lumps but always has his teams ready later in the season, my hope is that is how we grow....tough losses for players not used to it and they react with more determination and passion. No championships are won in December
He has looked fine to me in limited time...not sure what the deal is.
Seems like he has some inside presence on the defensive end we could use
I can't figure out how they have not corrected Wendell Moore on this. He keeps the ball out there for the taking.
I agree with you. I know it was Bellarmine, but he had some good blocks and made some shots. Not sure why we didn’t see Tape tonight.
Disappointing that we didn't really mix it up at all - with Hurt out we could have changed the team a bit but all night we stuck to the same formula...which didn't help us get any closer than 10 pts after the bad start
that doesn’t even make sense. He’s got talented guys to develop.He has them to work with year after regardless of who he recruits. We’ve had guys who after 3-4 years who probably wouldn’t start for a mid major. Guys that were high 4 stars. These guys get used to carrying the bags of future stars. It’s unfair to these guys who stay. There’s no reason why we can’t play one and dones AND develop the guys who stay. This game was ugly. Very disappointed.
Could never get over the poor start - concerning that we lack any real consistent outside threat and offensive consistency overall. Defensively we had effort at times but just seemed too weak and hesitant overall + didn't change our look at all. Stuck to man to man all night. The definition of insanity applied to how we approached this game..and got the result it deserved. Its disappointing, since if it is to be believed we have the talent level in these recruits, they are underachieving and not being given the coaching needed to be successful. Next game.
This is definitely a work in progress. Illinois was older, more poised, and overall had the cohesiveness on both ends we're sorely lacking right now. Defensively I've seen stretches where this team looks pretty good on that end. We're lacking the vocal leadership on the floor that is needed on both ends. I've only really seen Jordan and Hurt try to take that on. And that is killing us the most on the offensive end.
For the fans screaming for Duke to get away from having a team full of one and done players you got your wish. This is a team full of raw talent and potential. Definitely going to take some time for this group to get it going consistently. The question is, can they?

I mean yeah, these guys still play and fight for Duke so I absolutely want to see them. Just have to seriously temper expectations, understand that most of these guys will be back next year and we'll get back to being at the top of the food chain. And with the target completely off their back, who knows this team could come around and pleasantly surprise us by seasons end.
Virginia tech may be best team in the ACC. It's really a strange year. Side note enjoyed watching the shooters from Iowa.
and they just got absolutely blitzed by Penn St at home by 20 (were trailing by 29 at one point)
