***DUKE VS LOUISVILLE OFFICIAL GAMEDAY THREAD***

Well - I hate to say anything to jinx us right now. I don't know how many games consecutively my little ESPN app has popped up on my phone with the Duke pre-game prediction saying some writer somewhere predicts "a Duke loss"....and we keep finding a way.

Of course, today it was, "Matt Jones' ankle injury will impact the depth at No. 18 Louisville, leading to road loss" predicts Myron Medcalf.

Sure. The odds are against us today....again. But our backs have been against the wall for a while now. When we fell out of the rankings some idiot pundits were even questioning if we would make the tourney. I'm not picking against us.

On to today. We have six guys that will get minutes tonight - although Obi may get some tick out of necessity. Jeter HAS to be better. HAS to give us some quality minutes. That, and we have to stay out of foul trouble. If those two things happen, I like our chances. This team has moxy. They compete - when our guards are hitting shots we're tough to beat...especially now that we've found some defense.

Early tip - game is slated for a noon est tip and will air on ESPN HD.

I'm an optimist, but this one worries me. Duke has so little room for error considering the bodies that are able to contribute. And look for Louisville to pressure even more than they normally do in hopes of wearing us down...even if we don't get in foul trouble. Our guys will have to play very smart, and disciplined as well as making our perimeter shots. Somehow K and the guys find a way. Go Blue Devils!

I just don't see how we get this one, but I said the same thing against UNC.

I expect an emotional and physical let down in this one. That's ok too..we are playing with house money at this point.

I wouldn't put it past these guys to pull it out though..they have been sensational this stretch.

My opinion we will run out of gas in this one..not enough bodies. But if we get through...just WOW!

Hard to bet against Duke right now. They are just finding a way. I think they probably have too few bodies today, but I'll go with them even so.

I will never bet against this team after what we have all witnessed.... The emotional game Wednesday, the injuries/depth, and the fact Louisville at home will be looking for revenge make it hard.... but I will never underestimate this teams heart...

Duke - 70

We're all out of magic. We'll lose this one but nobody needs to be here complaining about it when it's over. We're suppose to be on a 3 game skid right now, instead, it's coming off of a 3 game *** whippin! We'll be race ready when Matt gets back ! GO DUKE!

It would be pretty incredible if Duke pulls this one off. I predicted a 2-3 record in this 5 game stretch, never imagined they'd be 4-0 heading into the 5th game. My blood pressure needs some time to settle down.

Go Duke!

We stay out of foul trouble, we have a chance. Early foul trouble and I'm afraid it'll be a big loss. Even if we lose I won't be too disappointed considering we will be playing 5 guys. They made me happy enough Wednesday to last the rest of the season.

GO Duke

Physical fatigue, emotional fatigue, and most important intestinal fortitude!
Duke wins 72-70. Duke is about to write another chapter to their long list of success....I hope.

My son testified this morning.

"Hey dad Duke won last year with 4 freshmen and everyone said they couldn't do it. They have 5 now and can win it. This could be the greatest team ever if they do."

If he's right, he may have won himself tickets to the Duke Natty game this year.

I'm curious to see where this team is mentally and emotionally. This would have been a tough turnaround for any Duke team, let alone one that is so depleted. We'll obviously see. But hard to be focused and have a lot left in the tank after all the energy the guys expended the past 2 games against UVA and UNC this week.

Either way, it's been a tremendous few game run. Just hope they can realize the opportunity they've created themselves (if we won today, we'd actually be pretty well-positioned to play UNC for the conference title on the last game of the season) and try to make one last big push to steal this game.

With that said, ignoring the depth, we're going to more directly miss Matt's D on Lee today. That may not only contribute to Lee having a big game, but is probably going to contribute to wearing out Grayson -- who's going to have also be focused on defending Lee. While I'm sure we'll try zone today, I'm not sure this Louisville squad is nearly as vulernable to the zone as it was last year.

I wouldn't want to play them again to win the Reg Season and also at Cameron. I have faith more than you know but the stress level would not be good. I may have to check into Duke University ER to have an EKG monitor hooked up.

What we have witnessed has been the result of a reverse jinx wherein I predict a Duke loss, so I'm going to stick w/ that rope-a-dope technique.

To win on the road right now, there has to be a strong focus, clear gameplan, and dominant will. That all comes from K, and it will be there, but he doesn't lace 'em up. Then there's following his lead and execution. I think part of that focus and gameplan will be going into it knowing only 6 guys are going to play. It's like Cortes burning his ships upon reaching the Americas (except not as evil). So no Obi, no Vrank. That'll be the plan, anyway.

UL is going to try to run us ragged. Full-court press, up tempo, attack Marshall. Pitino is 25-1 in home rematches after a loss.

^^^ My exact sentiments. Could be too much emotional fatigue to overcome. If we can weather the storm early, I like our chances. Just stay close until we get our second wind, stay injury free and foul free, Duke will stun the ACC community again. Basketball Gods be with us.
Go Duke!!

Would love to see twin towers in Marshall and Vrank. Vrank is young but he's fundamentally sound; he could hold up. I know it ain't happening but hey I can discuss it right? Lol

Not sure how to post a tweet on here... Sorry... But Steve Wiseman just showed a video of Matt warming up doing layup a running to the corner and shooting a 3... Not sure if it's just testing it or if he's going to try and give it a go

Yeah Gameday just showed Matt shooting some threes, didn't look like any ankle issues!

Having him able to come off the bench will be HUGE.

I think we will see Matt in spot minutes or if foul trouble happens... The good thing is after today Matt will have 5 full days before the FSU game to rest and get treatment on the ankle should he play Today

Jay Bilas wearing loud blue Nikes at college gameday in College Station. Jay Will with a Duke blue tie. It's great to be a Devil. Jay Will laying into Pitino a bit, also nice. Bilas defending his potential innocence, but giving ok reasons. Both of them make Stephen A. Smith look like a loudmouth rook.
