Had a bit of a tough shooting night, seemed like shots that our guys normally make just weren't falling. Even Jefferson had some close shots that just rimmed out. The team had to grind it out a bit since the offense was struggling somewhat. I'm growing frustrated with Matt Jones but with the current situation I guess there's just not many other options.

It was good, strong win, every team needs to learn how to win when shots aren't falling.

Grayson is the kind of player you love to hate if he's on the other team. But, if he's on your team you love him. And I love the hell out of 'em.

It's the end of November and we're 7-1. We're beat up, have three highly ranked freshmen yet to play a game and without them we're a top five kind of team. For all the 'perceived' bad we've faced so far this season, let's not forget there've been some really good things too.

For as horrible as Matt was offensively tonight, he was almost equally superb defensively. He made Bridges work for everything and even took him out mentally.

Matt was sensational defensively and virtually eliminated Bridges. Grayson was just a warrior. He never got flustered or lost any confidence when shots weren't falling. I thought our best offensive sets were when we got Amile and Luke/Grayson in the two man game. Wish we were going back to that more, very effective.

Chase played some very important and effective minutes tonight and they were much needed. Big learning game for him.

Very impressive win and I think we get to see that light at the end of the tunnel with the other three very very soon. This group really held down the fort and did a great job. Now hopefully we can get these three integrated and form the team we hoped we'd had the whole time.

Let's go Duke, very proud of these guys!

Honestly think that MSU team was worse than I expected. Happy for the win because we shot terrible from 3 and the FT line. But, that type of play will have us losing too many games in the ACC without the frosh back. Luke just can't have these spells where his shot is soo off from 3, and grayson can't just go wild into the lane and throw the ball up.

Amile is playing awesome but needs Bolden back big time. Chase is doing ok, but not good enough to have both Amile and him on the court at the same time. Amile will get beat up in ACC play if he has to play these minutes at the 5.

The minutes scare me more than the poor shooting. Despite poor shooting in all categories and bad defense for stretches, this team pulled out a victory against a team that would be middle of the road in ACC play. And middle of the road in the ACC this season puts you in the top 30-35 teams in the NCAA.

What I gleaned from this is that despite not being a juggernaut on offense, this team can win through game planning and execution in spurts. That's vital, because I know some Duke teams that would lose to a team like Mercer if their shot wasn't falling.

I don't think MSU was worse than expected. They were 4-3 in a tough out of conference slate and aside from UK, they were in every game. We can't beat top 5 teams playing like that on a regular basis, but we can pull out some victories if need be against sweet 16 caliber squads.

We have beaten each team we were supposed to beat with this group and came close to going undefeated. To your point, there have been other teams that when their shots aren't falling they can't win- this team has two legit defensive stoppers and three really solid guards.

Oh, help is on the way.

We've won every game but one and it was a buzzer beater. With an undermanned team. I'm impressed as hell. I kinda shiver when I look at that Kansas game. We didn't need all the trio, pop any ONE of them into that Kansas game and I believe we take that one pretty easy. If Bolden had been in for that one a lot of those easy layups ain't so easy. If Tatum had been in there, those scoring droughts get a lil shorter. If all 3 had been ready, Jesus. We DO need somebody back soon, the heavy minutes will kill us in the long run and it looks like classic K again this season, he's gonna play how he thinks we need to to get the win. I can't question his techniques, he's won a few games here and there. I'm just trying to stay positive and not get to cranky here at the board, I love this group of posters we have here, I know 98% of us are hardcore. It's easy to slip into angry mode watching a boatload of talent sitting on the bench every game. I think we'll get rewarded soon for hanging in there. Let's do this !

I've seen almost every MSU game this year, and that first half was by far the best they've played all season, except for maybe the first ten or so minutes of the Arizona game. In the second half, the turnovers killed them, which has been the case in each of their four losses this year. They'll be fine. Great win for Duke as Izzo teams are never easy to beat.

I understand the frustration with Matt's shooting but man, the guy played all 40 minutes and basically eliminated Bridges from the game. If he makes 1.3 more shots last night, he shoots the same percentage as Grayson who many think was play of the game for us. We need his defense and minutes so much right now - I thought he was terrific in the role we needed him in last night.
I'm actually encouraged by only 6 guys playing last night. Not because I think we can sustain it - because I don't. But I think (I really hope) it means K believes help is arriving very soon.

Matt has really only had two 'bad' offensive games. His role isn't to score. It's to defend and be an effective spot-up shooter. Last night he was really good at one of the two and really bad at the other. And before last night's game he was shooting over 42% from behind the arc....which led the team.

Obviously it's a tad early to really discuss this but I just couldn't help myself. Any chance we see Graysons name and number in Cameron Indoor permanently, as in hanging in the rafters???

If he stays next season and wins some form of NCAA player of the year award I think there's no doubt.

What's more disturbing are the facebook comments at the end of the article. People have a real twisted interpretation of what should be constituted as a joke and what is something that is off limits.

It's not about being PC, it's about having compassion for your fellow man.

Yeah, there have been some pretty tasteless comments and signs around the country this week on the matter.

I thought Duke handled it well in the press release.

"I hate Roy"
-Tom Izzo

No response from Roe, again. This time, though, Tom Izzo responds:

“I was very proud of how he handled it, because I didn’t appreciate it,” Izzo said of Roe. “I wasn’t going to let that be a big thing in the game. But of all the kids in the world that we’re going to pick on, they picked the wrong kid. I can give him a handful that he can pick on who maybe wouldn’t be as honest and up front about things, but him and his family? No, he picked the wrong kid.

“The other thing I thought was wrong was the insinuation like, almost, that Michigan State did something wrong to get him. So he picked the wrong kid, he picked the wrong family and he picked the wrong program. And there’ll be a time. There’ll be a time.”

If any of that sounds like they're BFF's I musta missed it.
