Don't jump on me because we are playing bad.

I said this team would fall out of the top 25 when ACC play started. I'll hold to that..we are extremely over ranked and have beaten nobody. It's the worst Duke team since 2007....it just is.

I don't mean to jump on you as I know you are a Dukie but you are certainly pretty predictable when we struggle, unfortunately something we seem to have mastered lately and it will not end today.

I will not say we aren't a good team. I think we just don't have enough horses to play top level ACC basketball each time we suit up. We were a pretty good last week but we do have a hard time with consistent good play.

It's 2 games, and 2 games we were right there. These two stung because it felt like we were there.

Don't count them out..... Not even close

I agree we're not very good, but you're the same poster who last year said Duke wouldn't get out of the first weekend.

I think you are mistaken me for someone else. I usually only post on the premium board.

But this team is only a sweet sixteen team with Jefferson. I say save his eligibility for next year and go for another banner. That's not happening this year with or with out him.

You are correct! My next question is does this team make the tournament? Take a look at the schedule and I am hard pressed to see how we finish 8-10 in league play and with our best wins against Indiana and Georgetown we are bubble team.

I think we will make the tournament. I also think they could get out of the first weekend but we are going to be a low seed and have to play some good teams to do it. That's about our cap IMO.

The scary thing to me is we havnt even played the "good" teams in the ACC yet..we are going to pile up a bunch of loses.

People saying we won't make the tourney are really grabbing at straws.. We aren't THAT bad
I didn't say we won't make the tournament I asked a simple question, do we make the tournament.
You can't look at this team with blinders on and say we are a top 20 or even 25 team. Our best win is against a poor Indiana team that guards worse than we do. I love Duke as much as the next guy but I am also a realist l and we are not a top 25 team.

Hey I got heat for saying 10-8 in the ACC. I may have been wrong, they may go 9-9.

I'll stay with this team either way, but without Amile they're only a decent team.

Yep..nobody said that.

However since you brought it up...it's not really out of the realm of possibility that we could not make the tourney. Just look at our schedule....

I don't think it's going to happen but it's not grasping at straws at this point to think its a possibility.

Improbable but certainly not impossible.

I know Jefferson is out but with 13 scholarship players on the roster - we can only find 6 worthwhile players? Should NEVER happen to a Coach K team. We should have a much deeper bench.

Even when Amile returns the woes on the defensive end wont be magically cured. Giving up 95 points is a team issue not just a one player issue. This team has big probelms with interior defense and perimeter. Offensively the end of game possessions in the last two games have been disjointed and chaotic, leading to a panic 3 pt shot by Matt J each time. Last year Tyus was the rock in these situation..there isnt a go to option this year. Tough loss but even more worrying is the upcoming schedule and no sigh of any improvement.

I know everyone hates it when people say negative things about our team. But we should at least acknowledge that Duke has zero resume wins. They have time to get better, but despite winning the first 3 games in the ACC, they are on the outside looking in right now. I don't know the answer for the team's woes, but it's not hard to see that they are going to lose a lot of games this year.

Well, it's not rosy that we've lost 2 games in a row, but with a little luck (well, perhaps poise, and a couple of made fts) Duke could be 5-0 in the conference. So, we're not chopped liver.

Last year 8 was enough, but 6 is not...maybe 7, but not 6. We're constantly in foul trouble, and that makes playing defense that much harder. It's just a lot to demand of 6 players, and 3 of them freshmen. It is what it is though.

That said I still think we're going to be a factor this year because we're supremely talented and skilled...even if we're short handed. Go Duke!!!

I agree, but our deficits are obvious and we can no longer hide them.

Unless Obi gets out of Coach K dog's house, Amile heals over night or Chase gains 20 pounds of muscle(and dunks like Marshall) this team will lose close games.

Perimeter play is not our issue. Duke can get 60pt per game from their guards...what comes from the frontcourt?

To me this is the real problem..you want them to play hard D but not foul and also go close to 40 minutes.

Guys are going to pace themselves..guys are going to play ole defense trying not to get in foul trouble.

And then you want them to flip it at the end of games...it doesn't work that way.

Today Notre Dame would not be denied...Give their players and Coach Brey credit- 4 of 5, I believe now. Its like MB really has a good system against us, and they are very confident when they take the floor...You have to believe he really learned how to play K from his stint under him In Durham....

I dont know what the final numbers were, but it certainly seemed we were dominated on the glass. I do want to say I was proud of Sean Obi today. I know he clanked a couple FTs, but he showed a ferocity on his offensive rebound Duke needs IMO....

Hopefully we win Monday, but I would like to get to an ending where someone besides Matt takes the critical shot....

But, the positives. Our last 3 losses we had a chance to win and arguably should have won and they were without Jefferson. Kennard is a blast to watch, and Ingram will be a great asset for the team. If we can get Allen to return to domination at the same time as Kennard and Ingram playing the way they have, we can win some big games with that alone.

We have got to get a win Monday night because the next 3 are on the road and we always struggle at Miami and Nc State. Need to go 2-2 at worst in the next 4.

I missed the game today. I had to go to a funeral. I lost a friend monday, now that's a terrible loss. The guy was always full of life and about making people smile and laugh, but for a reason no one knows decided to take his life monday morning. I hate to share this news but it's really made me put a perspective on things like this Duke team. Just relax and enjoy it, we win some we lose some, next year we will win a lot.

ND not only was great offensively, but they hit some shots that just demoralize a defense. It would be one thing if Jackson is hitting tough jumpers at the end of a shot clock (which he did plenty of), but it is tough to see a post player hit a fall-away 23 footer over four hands, or a guy with 12 points ON THE SEASON hit a contested 25 footer at the horn. That stuff just guts you as a defender. It is hard in those instances to fight the frustration that creates, but you have to learn to.

Also, while Matt Jones does a lot of important things for this team, it is tough to see him take that last shot. Duke has Allen and Ingram, and Kennard having his best game. They have to be the options there.

Sorry for your loss. You are right about that perspective and all will work itself out in life, whether it be in sports or in real issues. Without digging too deep on your friend's death, I hope you and others close to him are coping as well as you can be.

Clemson should have been a wake up call. The same performance today is disappointing. This team needs to decide if they want to be good or not, that's in their hands - talented players but you need to work hard, together and smart to be a good team. No doubt they can do it, they just need to mentally get focused and produce it on the court at both ends

Agreed but K always whittles it down by Jan. Now is when you do want to run more players to save legs for the post season but Duke has went into the tourney more than one time limping. This year heading that way also. But hey let me say it before someone else does,,,, don't question Coach he's won 5 nattys. most coaches would love to have Dukes bench as their starters

And K-oach Q , you had these same doom and gloom posts last year, exact same. Please dude, just spare us the drama.

No I didn't..it was two years ago. And I wasn't wrong then...at least get the season right.

But you can lump them all together if you like so it fits your agenda.

You're not serious are you? Who are the ones most coaches would love to have or do you mean most high school coaches?

It was a horrible shot. But still , Matt isn't the reason this team lost.
I agree but the guys had a chance and to take a 50% shot and your covered. Maybe to win the game but dang, we had a lot of time. Defense and rebounding didn't help matters any.
