Abandoning the roleless offense for more sets looked like we were more coordinated on offense. Intensity on defense was good, especially rebounding....a marked improvement from prior games. Good win.

Glad to be wrong. Still some things we need to tighten up but a solid win, if most of our guys stick around we're gonna be scary next year.

Solid win and overall well played. Balanced scoring and shot the ball well from the field, free throw line and past the arc. Protected the ball also. Wish we could have gotten to the free throw line more. Pleased and will sleep well tonight. OFC

I’m not a big Hurt fan...but his midrange game has been as good as I’ve seen tonight. Some of these are really tough shots and he’s just nailing them.

Dude. I’m not sure you’re a DUKE fan. (If only there was an eye roll emoji big enough)

Nice first conference win!!! Team showed up. Start to finish. Next!!

Why would you question if he is a Duke fan or not? Just because he's not head over heels in love with one of our players?

Just for the record I'm a duke fan and I'm not a big fan of Joey Baker either

All around solid win tonight. Happy to see the guys are getting more comfortable with one another. Getting closer to an identity hopefully. Nice way to start the Christmas break.

They looked a lot better out there today! I like the growth! They may find their identity is with defense, which would be pretty dang awesome!

I’m a really big Mike Buckmire fan though!

Does that make me a fan? If not...let me know which players I have to like to be considered a Duke Fan.....thanks 👍

I wonder if the Nate Oats comment has been bulletin board material?

We're all only human, and I think it further stoked K's fire in the belly. Good to see
that drive still VERY MUCH ALIVE in coach. However MORE THAN ANYTHING, I think after the two rather decisive L's the professor went back to the lab and did some serious tinkering. Added kudos to K for having them play SO WELL without their most highly touted freshman. So proud of our guys!

Great win. I wasn’t able to watch live. I know Notre Dame doesn’t feature the athletes like Illinois and Michigan State, but it was a great confidence booster by getting a win on the road in the ACC.

This team could be like the 2012 team (during conference play). Remember, that team was undefeated on the road (the last Duke team to accomplish that IIRC) and lost several games at home. For some reason (based on what I saw and heard) we looked VERY comfortable playing our first game away from Cameron.

That was a little better. Had more movement out there. Seemed like there was actually offense being ran. I still say our identity should be defense because we don’t have multiple elite scorers. We need to make the game low scoring and hope we get two guys having a good night.

All in all, Duke’s best played game throughout their first 5 games of the season. The defense was solid in the full court, half court, and transition. All the guys who played last night contributed in one way or another. The ball movement and unselfishness was great on the offensive end. I was impressed with the progress of Roach, Steward, Brakefield, and Williams. I hope when Johnson returns to the line-up, he becomes another integral part in having the offense flow with great ball movement. Also, our bench outscored Notre Dame’s bench something to the tune of 20-0.
Things to improve: 1) Cutting down on the silly turnovers and 2) cutting down on the silly fouls. I liked that Coach K used his rotation and pressed Notre Dame. It may be Duke’s strength on the defensive end to press teams and sub bodies in and out when the players need a breather. As many of you have alluded to, it was a good win (a building block) and hopefully our guys will continue to improve and mold into a dangerous team for the post season. Enjoy the journey everyone.

Very impressive win. Won't say a must win but it was close for a young team. The fact that we won without JJ and Moore and Baker struggling was a good sign as well. It appears we may have a good backcourt this year after all. Nice to see Tape get a start and Williams contributing. Brakefield is a stud. Hurt is outstanding.

Hurt has impressed me so much. I don't remember who here was throwing off on him so much, but that needs to stop ASAP. Hurt is balling out this season so far.

I did not go into last nights game expecting that at all. They looked so much more fluid on offense and actually had good ball movement. I mean your always going to look better when shots are falling but it was a step in the right direction. Odd that it happened in a game where we don’t have Jalen.

There was a lot of enthusiasm on the court and much much better ball and player movement. Moore still in a funk, had 2 bad turnovers and almost a 3rd. He'll get PT due to his versatility and good defensive play but he'll become irrelevant on the offensive end if he isn't careful.

I also agree that our 3 guards played very well, except for a few lapses protecting the 3 point line about which Coach K got on them pretty quickly.

This was a really positive step and shows again why Coach K is the best. He is not afraid to change things up to suit the moment.

Must shoot more than 5 Free Throws. The offensive efficiency was excellent, but the next step is getting free shots from the foul line

I agree. But Notre Dame traditionally just doesn't foul much....so that wasn't as alarming to me in this particular game.

Matthew continues to be our best scorer. I don't expect that will change. The team made multiple concerted efforts to get him the ball in opportune positions Wednesday. Kudos.

Brakefield doesn't play like a freshman. In a sense, he's a little like Hurt....he's a scorer. It's what he was known for in high school and that natural ability has carried over to college earlier in his career than I thought it would.

The bottom line is....we made some shots/jumpers. Every team looks better when that happens. There were will a few 'dumb' ones where I was like, "what are you doing?" and then seconds later said good shot. More than anything, because we made shots, we didn't press and look like deer in headlights.

This team needed a game like that to prove to themselves they're capable. We all know we're talented....it's whether or not we can mesh it all together. Good win to start conference play.

I think overreaction on a fan forum is the norm. It certainly is for me. We are not as bad as we looked when losing to 2 top 15 teams and not as good as we looked against an average slow ND team. But we are making progress. FSU will be athletic and a great test for us. Pitt as well.

I felt the offense was much more fluid vs. ND and the shots were better ones not forced at the end of the shot clock as against Illinois. Was that due to less pressure, or better execution? We'll find out by mid January (assuming we get a few games in by that time).
