You all saying that we've regressed - I disagree and think you all just bought into the hype machine early on.

Having said that, this team showed grit tonight and didn't fold.

I agree. These are the type of games you have to win in the tourney, and the more experience you have dealing with the adversity the better your chances of playing with purpose.

I feel like our bench needs to come back to play.. javin, baker, AOC have really been non factors the past month both on offense and defense... it’s puts a lot of pressure on your starters.. Moore coming back should hopefully be a big boost!

I wonder which Syracuse player on Saturday will have his "more than double your scoring average career day Tevin Mack-David Johnson-Au'diese Toney" trend that Duke has been enjoying lately.

Just happy to get the win. Intense game and intense in game thread tonight. Capel has Pitt headed in the right direction I believe. Had them well prepared tonight. He's gonna beat us sooner or later. Have no problem if he takes the reins when Coach K retires but he may choose to stay at Pitt. You just never know. I also apologize to any if you that I may have got out of hand with tonight including the crazies but they seemed to rise in the second half. Maybe Coach K got their attention even if he did misunderstand them. Time for this grumpy old fart to go to bed. OFC

Pitt is a scrappy team... just look at their coach. Duke let up a little bit and Pitt smacked them back... I’ll say this though.. duke could have folded big time when the lead was cut to 3 but they dug deep and get key stops and offensive possessions..

Tre and Vernon have to play good, and Hurt has to be better than 2-6 from the floor. Alex is sliding further down the bench, and Joey isn’t bringing what we need at this point.
I like Goldwire, but his 1st half shooting was not the norm. We just seem to be off just enough to make things too interesting.

Very happy about the win. I'm a tad concerned about the bench play lately. We really need Moore back because Jav, AOC and Baker are in a combined funk.

when we let them back in it was from stagnant offense - just passing on the perimeter and then a late shot clock jumper...one and out...we didnt have anyone willing to beat someone off the dribble to open up some options. And on defense that is exactly how Pitt beat us..off the dribble. Toney was a beast. We do need more out of the role players...getting nothing out of AOC/Baker and Javin makes the rotation much shorter. A deep team is becoming more like our normal team of the past few years...7-8 guys. Gritty win but some concerning traits. Hopefully just rust from a week off.

Some of you need to banned from posting during games. Y’all be all over the place. One second we’re amazing and next we might not make it out the first round. Smh. We will be fine. Hopefully when Moore comes back we will get back on track. Defense will get better. Goldwire won’t be playing 30+ minutes anymore. We won’t get to where we want to be with him playing that much. Outside of that it was a good win. We stepped up in the end and didn’t let them come back. That’s a good sign

And there’s too many of them that are only here when we are losing!

Girard will probably go off for 30 and Guerrier will add 20. Going to be a tough game for us.

It’s pretty funny at this point, I think there are more people complaining about negativity than the actual negativity posts. Each post will illicit like 2 or 3 replies. Gotta love these game threads.

I had hoped we would play better. Seems like we are not exactly improving..However I’m not going to make assumptions on this one due to what’s going on.

People process differently. I’m sure coaches, staff, and players are all in different places.

We won...everyone gets a pass IMO..Hopefully we can get better from here.

I'm not surprised the rotation dwindled last night. Javin, Baker and AOC gave Coach K nothing. Baker continues to offer very little when he's not shooting well (he does hustle, but not productively). I'm hoping Wendell will provide a spark because that's the final piece this team needs, someone to play strong and be able to get to the basket.

What I would like to see more of is a right side/back pick with a cross down pass to the right base, zip out to the three. If not there bounce to down the left block and for 2 and one. Then buggy back on D flip the ball back to O end for the flush. OFC

Athletic wings could be the death of this Duke team. SFA, Clemson, and Louisville all had them. The Toney guy last night destroyed us too.
Hopefully Moore can help us in that aspect, that should be his role to shut down the athletic wing. It's just not in the cards for Baker or Jack to shut down these type of athletes, and Tre/Goldwire are too small.

I think expectations with Moore need to be tempered though. Before he got hurt, he was a kid who had a few amazing halfs (@ VT and Gtwown come to mind) but outside of some rare bursts, he was almost unplayable. A lot of bad turnovers and poor dribbling. We need Moore in the long-run, but I think it could take him a few weeks to be a 25-30 mpg guy.

Sounds good to me. Or K could just roll the ball out there.

A two handed bounce or chest pass might work better than just rolling the ball out there. Anything could happen. Some fan could run out and steal the ball and leave with it. :) OFC
