There are plenty of answers. What the team needs to do is actually easy and fixable, with or without Amile. It's time to scrap the half-court passing lane man, pack the lane, rebound and shoot when you're 15 feet from the basket, not 30.

We are not going to pack it in. Only once (2010) can I ever remember K doing that.

Jay Williams and Greenberg jUst said this has been Dukes defense for five years now. Last year was the only exception..it's quite easy to beat.

I agree...but it isn't going to happen.

Brutally tough..... BUT..... As bad as the problems are, we are right there. Right there. Just gotta dig deep, get hungry and win some games you aren't suppose to. It's just not smart to count This group totally out yet. The heart is there, the winning experience is not.

I won't say it won't happen yet, but it is true that K does not like to resort to that. He also likes to win and that was also proven with that 2010 team. If we can recognize what's wrong, so can he. The question is, will the guys do what is needed to win.

Allen had Plumlee wide open for the dunk on that last drive. Pathetic effort by the coaches and the players.
Jones takes 11 shots all 3's.
Time for Coach K to make some changes. Go big with Obi or Jeter with Marshall. At least we will get more rebounds.

It's not a good sign that when we absolutely need to score I'm yelling at them to give the ball to Marshall.

Obi looked very bad in the few minutes he got. Jeter.

Marshall was unbelievable. I just don't understand why you don't use Obi, Vrank, Chase and Marshall by committee? It was done with Miles, Mason, Zou and Lance... Let the perimeter players score all the points and the Bigs rebound and play defense.

I just don't think you can defend playing six guys.

You want them to play hard and aggressive overplay which is extremely foul prone with today's rules.

But you want them not to foul...and play it hard for 40 minutes with no substitutions or let ups. Not to mention no answers for foul problems.

It just doesn't work...the staff messed up "this" years roster. Amile alone isn't going to fix it. We don't have enough players...

Still do not understand why Ingram is not playing down low more. We need his length in and around the paint. Not floating around the arch all night

I'm feeling sick right now! I don't understand for the life of me how Roberson can get that many offensive rebounds! Just ridiculous is all I can say.

We have how many guys 6'10 or bigger. Throw them in and pack in the zone. No sense in Roberson jerking 20+ boards. I know it's not what Duke likes to do but hey try something. What they are doing certainly isn't working

There's not really much to say. Duke just isn't very good. I think many of us knew that, relatively-speaking, this wasn't going to be a great Duke team. That said, I wasn't anticipating this. It's a struggle right now....and while we miss Amile, that's not the only thing to blame here.

Great post . Sadly after a title year this team looks like it won't even get a bid. That will be tough to take.

9 FT tonight, 7 at Clemson - both close games and winnable if we didnt shoot so many 3's and drove the ball more. Allen did that early in the year, he seems to have lost confidence in driving - he needs to get his mojo back or its a long tough stretch ahead.
Going to watch a recording of the 2015 NT game to sooth my mind! Still reigning champs but boy this is hard to watch

I hope you don't get accosted for saying that!!

Maybe I will, and this team has the talent to turn it around, but it doesn't look good right now. K is the trusted leader but either the kids aren't listening to him or he's not making good adjustments. Hope they figure it out, soon.

Guys, when you get down on your knees tonight, thank the Lord for his guiding light, and just pray they turn out right, thank God for kids!
Things don't always work out the way we want, but keep these kids in mind and what they are going through right now. They are struggling, they are young, and they still need support. I don't know about anyone else, but they have given me a lot of joy so far this year and I think there is more to come.
This is still Duke, we still have "K", and we still have a great program. This season is a long way from over and we can still make a lot of noise. Enjoy what they have to offer, there is still a lot of joy to come this year!
Go Duke!!

The kids are playing their behinds off, K is coaching his a$$ off..... The kids just simply aren't winning, it's simple at times. The ball isn't bouncing our way right now.

Matts hand. Yes those are teeth marks. Happened at end of game. Ref didn't wanna hear it when Matt showed him. Can you say we got hosed?

No, games aren't won or lost on the last play of the game. The way we played for 40 minutes is why we lost. Just being honest.

K-oach Q, how did the staff mess up this roster? Tyus & Justise were recruited to be on this team not in the Association right now. Jeter has not panned out and Obi had/has knee problems and was/is not physically ready. What should the staff have done to not mess this up?

Luke let his shooting woe's affect his hole game tonight. He had been on a streak of real good shooting games, but tonight when he missed so many early shots, he lost all confidence. If he would have just made a couple of the shots, we win! Playing with this line-up we have to shoot well or it will be a struggle to win. I'm not giving up on this team, there's to much talent. We will turn it around!

tyus should be here and that would be huge, but winslow was most likely gone before season started from what i heard. Thornton is only here because tyus left so duke was only going to have one pg either way. Dukes thrived with multiple ball handlers. Also while recruiting jah you knew he was gone so they should have got another big last year instead of 2 this year. But I'll take an amazing team that wins a championship followed by a defficient team every 2years please.

Not sure what that article proved, just another opinion. Are you suggesting K should take notes from Roy? Manning? Gottfried?

I'll stick with K....

No..suggesting he doesn't fill his scholarships and the way he likes to build the team. And with the new emphasis on OAD. Any injury under this scenario can wreck a season. It's the tightrope they are walking...and this year they fell off.

In fairness you also said I was nuts for saying 10-8. You still feel that way? I'm not poking, I'm asking a serious question.

I 100% believed you were nuts at the time. The talent is clearly there and I expected it to come together better than it has at this point.. I was wrong but we still have time, and eventually Amile gets back even if it is mid-feb it will help it won't solve everything that seems wrong now but we instantly become better. The 10-8 thing may of been crazy but the not making the tourney is even farther out there to me at this moment. Like I said 20 wins gets us in that's just 6 more.. We will lose again but somewhere along the way we will pick up a game or two that we don't expect to get.

Prior to landing Okafor, Duke had long been saddled with a rep for doing poorly with big men. While Miles Plumlee made the NBA based on his athletic potential, he was never the man at Duke, and it took Mason until his senior year to be the man. Ryan Kelly wasn't a true down-low big. Zoubek had a great half season at the right time; McRoberts left in what was perceived to be a huff. It has been since Shelden Williams that Duke had had a true post player excel, and he was a 4-year college player who never amounted to much in the pros.

Okafor committed to Duke and showed we can use big men as our offensive focus, but by the time that played out, this season's freshman class had made their choices. According to one recruiting site, we offered Diamond Stone, Henry Ellenson, and Caleb Swanigan (news to me on the first two). There were academic concerns about Stone and the other 2 both chose places close to home.

What else was the staff supposed to do? Jeter is a top 20 recruit who isn't ready to help a lot this season. Amile is injured. Obi hasn't earned PT and Vrank wasn't expected to be ready this season. Why does a 3-game losing streak with signs of more to come have to mean someone screwed up? Don't these things just happen sometimes? Someone dared drop "PC" on me yesterday when I took someone to task for a post; well, I'd say this tantruming need to point fingers is a better example of whiny entitlement and coddling: No one can just accept that things don't always go their way. They have to blame someone. It's comparable to how litigious society has become. The way some people are reacting here reminds me of how 10-year-olds struggle to accept that losing means going home in March.

Amile Jefferson and every other big at every other school aren't walking through that door. This is our team. Dance with who brung ya.
