Just remember, we have Coach K, they don't. I do agree with Dukiejay though about their freshman possibly being a little more seasoned. I like the leadership Duke has in Jefferson, Plumlee, and Jones. I think they lead us to victory.
And Coach K is 5-1 against Kentucky with the one loss coming in 1998. That game still bugs me because Duke was the better team! I firmly believe if Duke won that game, they would have won the national championship that year!!

Don't let that 1998 game bother you. I firmly believe that UK was better than Duke last year, but Duke was holding the trophy at the end of the season, and that's all that matters! This years game will be excellent. It's unbelievable how quick we are going to see it.

Firmly believe UK was better? I would love to hear the argument as to why as post national championship I wrote a long post that adverbs like firmly and definitely are wrong...

If Kentucky was better how come they lost lol. You should have lost to Notre Dame, sick of hearing the same old Kentucky crap every year, bragging that they are the best, then they get their a$$ beat, then all your hear are excuses.

think we're jumping on him a bit harsh there....he said he thought his team was better, no harm no foul, and said at the end of the day we were holding the trophy. not sure why we're all over the guy to be honest.

I don't mind them jumping on me as long as they are consistent. I'm waiting for them to attack the guy that said the 1998 Duke team was better than UK. I mean, UK won the game, so that guy must be delusional, right? We all know the best team wins the national championship every year. Right?

I agree. And in all honesty, had I been forced to pick who I thought wins --- 2015 UK vs. 2015 Duke --- well, I'd maybe lean with the option that would be less popular here. That's just me.

I think we were the best team in 94,99, 04, '11 (before KI went down), etc. **** happens.

I don't know if the best team wins it every year, but I DO KNOW the best team won it last year.

I would tend to agree. You absolutely were the best team in 1999. UConn played out of their minds that night. When that happens there is nothing you can do. I thought we were the best team in 2003 and then we ran into Marquette with Dwyane Wade and two guys named Steve Novak and Travis Diener that were absolutely going berserk from 3 point range. When that happens you just have to tip your hat and move on. Ironically, Kansas drilled them by 40 in their next game and they shot one of the worst percentages in final four history.

Duke will win and probably win rather easily. Kentucky is being overrated and Duke underrated.

Kentucky will be really good this year. Probably the best outside shooting team Cal has ever had. One thing that concerns me, though, about the Duke game is how we're going to guard Ingram. We've been talking about a 3-guard lineup, which I think puts our best team in the floor, but that also puts 6'4" Murray on 6'9" Ingram, which I don't like. On the other hand I don't know how well Duke will be able to contain Skal. From what I've seen of him so far, he's better offensively than Davis or Towns were at the beginning of the year.

Overal I think Kentucky is more talented but admittedly, K is arguably the best in-game coach ever and this one may come down to how matchup a are handled. But being a UK homer I pick us 84-77 :D

Selective memory. Diener shot 1-6 on 3 pointers in that game (2-8 overall). Good ballplayer, though. Played about 5 years in NBA.

Novak did go 5-8 on threes, but he is a known quantity. He shot 46.1% on threes in his college career. He's still in the NBA now at age 32, with a 43.1% career 3-point FG%. You may have wanted to guard him more closely.

I just remember we got blitzed with a 28-7 run in the first half. Wade ended up with a triple double and some white guys hit a bunch of threes. I was mistaken about Diener, I just remember the first half was a disaster and we trailed by close to 20 points at halftime.

Kentucky fans always say they have more talent, even if they played the dream team they would say that lmao
Well, frankly, they usually do. But they've has almost twice the draft picks as any other team since Cal's been coach. It hasn't always translated to wins necessarily. There've been chemistry issues, use issues, and honestly, some questionable coaching calls. But they've usually been stacked with talent.

One main factor in our favor is we have the best in Coach K. I don't know what the outcome of the game is but I never ever go against Coach K. OFC

Even if Duke wins, they will still say they are the better team. We have the gold trophy from last year, but they were still better.

Jefferson will absolutely D up on Skal. Jones will D up on Murray. Two experienced players who are known for their defense guarding two freshmen who has never played college ball. With this alone, how could you possibly favor UK to take it?
I don't look for this to happen. their not normal freshmen ...If it does Duke will win ...Also have to deal with Ulis,Lee and Poythress ..Should be a great game as always..

The Ingram match up is what I was wandering about to...I think we will pull poythress back out to the 3 if that happens with skal and Lee at the 4and 5, the guard match ups are the ones I can't wait to see!!!

I give the edge to Duke this early in the season.. With Poythress not being 100% yet he's looked timid imo on the court thus far. I worry about how effective he can be this early in the season & believe that his progression as the season goes along will determine the type of season UK has.

I'm really anxious to see how Lee comes out and plays.. in what should be a more defined role.

Should be a good one & always look forward to playing a high caliber opponent every year in this event.

You guys are in for a rude awakening with Jamal Murray. He dominated grown *** men in the Pan Am games.

Duke may win but no way can Jefferson defend Skal.
