THR is a dumpster fire. I've never seen so many cry babies and excuses. They keep crying if they made the free throws they woulda won but they can't say that lol if we hit more shots we woulda won bigger lol stupid bunch

The logic of that argument is so stupid, but when stupid people say it, well, then we've kind of come full circle on the irony of it all.

The bottom line is this....UNC is very capable and they're a good team. That said, they need both Berry and Jackson to play well every game and then get something from a third guy. Also, this is college basketball. It's no secret you need good guards. I'm sure Kenny Williams is a great kid, but he's just not a high-end guard right now and I still think Pinson fits in better as their leader and emotional lift, rather than as a lead dog.

This is a really good UNC team. They've kept good players around forever and so they have experience combined with good (not great) talent. That's a recipe for a really good record.

Regarding Hicks, look after what we've gone through as fans from having 3 of the 4 frosh out to start the season then Amile gets hurt again. The Coach misses what? 7 games himself. After all of that my sympathy meter for other teams missing a player is at a big red ZERO. Duke could very well be much further along had none of these injuries happened and UNC had more than enough firepower to win last night.

As to the game itself, what can you say? Allen was incredible and as with so many meetings, DUKE just kills UNC from the perimeter. Drive and kick, drive and kick and Roy can never seem to adjust to stop it.

Dsouth with his usual bitter self I noticed. lol.

If I were a Carolina fan I wouldn't be writing in a W yet for the rematch. Duke has played better in Chapel Hill over the last couple decades than they have in Durham. In fact, you have to go back to 1997 and 1998 to find the last time that UNC won two games in a row at home vs Duke. Duke won over there 1999-2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016. Literally every other year Duke is getting a W over there.

It was great to see that Duke was the team that imposed its will on UNC, not the other way around. UNC was forced to go smaller than they prefer because Tatum was a tough matchup for their second bigs. And he was more than holding his own on the boards, which is where they anticipated having the edge in that matchup.

Hats off to the Crazies. Their quality is really put into perspective when you turn on the UCLA game, and they are hosting the #5 team in the country and there are visible open seats in the first few rows.

Conference of champions!

What an awesome awesome game! Just incredible game by the whole team. No, we sure weren't perfect, but in a very high pressure game, we fought for 40 minutes and that's all that I asked.

Our 5 star freshmen had their best collective game so far this season. Lots of props to Frank Jackson, thought he played pretty darn well. Kid is really talented.

The Tarholes on IC are already covering up this loss with the absence of Hicks. Apparently if Isaiah "Kareem Abdul Jabbar" Hicks had played, UNC would have blown Duke out.
But they still had Joel"Isaiah Thomas" Berry and Justin"Kevin Durant" Jackson and Kennedy"Wilt the Stilt Chamberlain" Meeks!

i keep hearing unc fans saying if they made their fts they win....well in the world of IF, if you give unc their 8 missed fts, dont you have to give duke their 3 missed fts??????????....or better yet, can duke get credit for the missed 3pters, id take the 14 missed 3's in exchange for the 8 3's that unc missed......see how that works

Awesome effort. Confidence booster and Springboard into the balance of the season.

Let's not get too excited. They were without the great Isiah Karrem Abdul Olajuwon Russell Chamberlain Hicks, after all. Remember when they used to mock Amile like that?? They would have won "easily" if Hicks played. Saw it said over at that cesspool called THR.

BIG win for confidence - 75% of the game we did a great job defensively and we rebounded like men...to me that was the key - limited the second chance points in the paint and played hard on that end. Tatums second half was a coming out party i hope and he starts to dominate games in the flow of the offense.
Oh and by the way - GTHC, GTH

Tatum was awesom in the second half and some of the boards he brought down amongst the beefcakes (yeah, mainly picturing Meeks there) were man's plays.

This is the grayson allen from the last 3-4 games that we all expected and the whole country feared. His chemistry as well as that of our team seems wwwaaayyyy better than at any other point this season, for obvious reasons.

Yep, his confidence is fully back and it is awesome to see. It is back to the point where every time he puts it up I just assume it is going in.

Here's something they need to be talking about. We played better. Hell, WE OUTREBOUNDED THEM ! They sucked at the stripe. Grayson and Luke played fantastic, our defense was great and then there's that poster Jayson drew up all over Meeks FACE ! God , what a game.

Some of them are claiming Duke out rebounded them by one because Roy went with a small lineup more than usual. Lol. It is always something.....

It was a good game all around hard fought match up.

Can't really say if Hicks played they win. Look how Duke shut down Meeks and Duke had bodies to throw down low but UNC actually went small which evened out the game even more. The rematch will be another good one but I like how Giles and Bolden are getting confidence and Duke is using them so we will see how the rematch goes

Yep, three weeks from now Giles and Bolden might be something totally different. The Holes are what they are, we have the hope and promise of much improvement from those guys by then.

So far the excuses I've read and heard:

If we had Hicks we would have won by 10+ points
If we hit our foul shots we would have won easily
If we hit more of our open threes we would have won
If berry got that And 1 on kennard late in the second half, it would have completely changed the game.
And of course: the refs had it out for UNC

Sounds about right... you can't help but to laugh

Just got finished reading through some of their garbage and wow you can tell this really stings! Yeah and "if we would have hit our FTs we would have won" is straight up loony! Then they blame Roy for not adjusting and defending the 3, trust me he tried and he just got out coached. Our offensive execution was better than their defensive execution. Roy KNOWS we are going to shoot the 3 and he just couldn't stop it. It comes down to coaching and the G.O.A.T showed why he is the best in the game. Heel fans, we were just better than you, eat you **** Sandwich and hope for better at the dome.

Gee, well if Duke didn't go 13-27 from the free throw line in Cameron in 2001 UNC doesn't win by 2 points.. if Memphis doesn't botch free throws in 2008 Kansas only has 2 titles (and none in 29 years.) Making plays, hitting your foul shots, being smart with the ball. etc. You know, executing. Free throws count and if you miss them you can lose.

I found it comical when they interviewed Roy, he was not happy about giving us 6 trey's in the first half. So what does he do in the 2nd? Gave us 7! haha!

Their argument that if they would've made their missed free throws they would've won is the most ridiculous because even if they had made them then the game would've been tied and if they're going to factor in their missed free throws then they gotta factor in our missed free throws and if we made our missed free throws then we still win by 3 lol

This is the Grayson I have wanted to see all year -- confidence backed up with results. Love the first 3 he jacked and scored.

I hope the team can maintain Allen AND Kennard, not Allen OR Kennard. Having both have a great game together is the template for how we will go far in the tourney. Jones and Amile's defense cannot go unrecognized. I thought that the freshman in general played great, but Jackson and Tatum were stunning.

This was the most important game of the season in so many ways and they were able to win against a _very_ good team convincingly.

Love being a Dukie!

Read an article about the game today from The Greensboro News & Record by Ed Hardin. He said hof coach roy williams got a fan ejected from the game who was sitting behind the scores table. Any one else heard about this. If it happened was it one of you guys. hof coach roy williams is a sensitive guy as we all know but to have a fan ejected some where besides your home court just shows how entitled he feels he is. Several on THR saying berry should have got an and-1 on the play when Kennard fouled berry about 5 minutes before berry shot.
That's because Berry is an NBA All-star and possibly legend and therefore should already be receiving the officiating that comes with that status, up to and including continuations.

winning the first game is Bigly important

The first one always gets the most hype and , anecdotally speaking , it just seems as if the most memorable moments come from the initial game. Fan-wise and bragging rights-wise , the first one is ALWAYS the most important. Sure , ya wanna sweep but if your team gets the first one all the pressure's on the rival in trhe second. No one wants to lose either game much less get swept.

I really like what Bolden did in his brief stint in the first half. He brought a defensive post presence that kept the Holes playing on the perimeter, and Duke outscored the Holes 10-2 in that frame. He seemed to really get winded and was spent by the end of that 4 minute span. I hope we continue to see more and more of the kid!
