There 8 no logical reasoning for Duke to be a 1 seed over Virginia. Comittee always weighs regular season conference standings over anything else.

Duke will stay ahead of Wisconsin. Better wins and they beat Wisconsin had to head.

Villanova east
Duke south
Wisconsin west

Arizona west
Virginia east
Kansas south

Duke will drop. They are neither conference champs nor tourney champs. Virginia won the regular season and Virginia beat ND at ND.

Head to head win in UVA's home court? Better quality wins?

Here is why Duke stays on one line, beat Va at Va, won on road at Wisconsin, North Carolina and Louisville. VA did win regular season but no roadie at Duke, they had slightly easier ACC schedule and lost 2 of last 3.

Duke, should, fall, but won't happen. UVA won their conference. The committee screwed us in 2011 we beat Florida twice in a week and they still, got the two, seed,we got the four. Duke, should not get a one but probably will.

Florida won the regular season that year too.

At what point does 3 double digit losses factor in against those good wins? Two of those losses were blowouts to pretty average (NC State) to below average (Miami) teams.

@Virginia

@ UNC

And these are the four reasons Duke holds onto their #1 seed, although now they will likely be shipped to the south region as opposed to the east.

if it wasn't duke I would say they would fall off the one line but this is duke we're talking about guys. Not only will they be a 1 seed but they will probably have a favorable bracket.
I can't complain about duke getting a 1 seed either, they had a solid season with 3 bigtime wins on the road.
Zona will not get a win, if you think they will then you haven't seen them play and you haven't seen the competition they have been playing. It's not good. Also, who have they beaten? Better yet, look who they have lost to.

How many times does a #1 seed not win their conference or conference tourney? And not even make their tourney final game.

Like I said, the Committee weighs the regular conference standings over everything else. Have you been paying attention to history?

Committee doesn't look at head to head wins between two teams. It looks at the whole body of work.

It would be a crying shame if Duke beats out Virginia for a one seed. With their performances against NC State, Miami and tonight against ND they don't deserve it. Virginia was much more consistent throughout the season and won the regular season title.

Seems to be the case. An undeated UK getting a 3 loss team that should be #1, and 4-loss Duke will get pretender Gonzaga, who has beat NOBODY.

It would be interesting to know if a team that failed to win its regular season conference title or tournament title has ever been a 1 seed. I doubt it has ever happened and it shouldn't happen this year.

Duke doesn't deserve the #1 east seed but when has that mattered. Btw, for the two posters above, it's their, as in possessive. There refers to a position, as in there she is. But their clothes, their seed, their anus, are examples of the use of their. Don't mean to be pissy but come on, this id lewisville c.c. type ignorance.

If Wisconsin wins their conference tournament, there's absolutely no way they don't get a 1 seed. I'll bet any takers $1,000 on it.

As is not proofreading your own post, which is lecturing on grammar, for spelling mistakes.

I think that's a good take. Yet UVa won the ACC regular season so can we be sure they won't still get the 1 over Duke? Or even that Arizona could still get a 1 and they are both looking at a 2. I've given up on guessing what the committee will do, and I think my opinions probably well known. Though I've said many times I think 'Nova deserving as a 1 I was actually kind of hoping they'd lose tonight, and Duke win. I thought it would have been interesting if the 1's ended up being, UK, Duke, Wisconsin, and Arizona. The top 4 in the first preseason poll. Villanova could still lose, but at this point I'd at least think UVa would get the nod over Duke by having won the ACC regular season title.

If UVA gets a 2, they probably replace wisconsin in our region. Actually would rather play wisconsin. The whole geography thing will screw us either way. All three of Wisconsin, Duke, and UVA are closer to Cleveland than Syracuse.

CBS just came out with new brackets. They have UK/KU, Nova/UVA, Duke/Gonzaga, and Wisconsin/AZ. They're all deserving of #1s. But these pairings seem logical if Wisconsin and Nova win tomorrow.

Kentucky and Florida weren't up for the same seeding. We were a four and they were a two.

But, if they are comparing two teams for the same seeding, they have stated and shown multiple times that they look at head to head matches. Most times, that would also be the same as the regular season conference champion. But the acc's unbalanced schedule will throw the conference champion designation out the window. Duke has far and away a better resume than Virginia. They'll get the one.

If Wisconsin,Ariz and Nova all win out,or if 2 of them win out then Duke will drop off the #1 line. They will get Nova as their #1 if they drop and Nova as a #2 if they somehow don't.

They can't hide Duke from everyone,UVA doesn't want any part of the Cats.We will get UNC,UL and the Zags in some order.

They accidently did us a favor last year and may end up doing it again (accidently)this year.

There's absolutely no way in hell Duke should get a 1 seed over Virginia. Virginia won the ACC, has one fewer loss than Duke, and both lost in the ACC semis. Duke has won nothing.
