Duke bout to drop 100+ for the fourth time in five games, and dominated Kansas and Texas. This is so infuriating that they haven’t missed a beat, but we’re struggling. My fear is that we’ll become Indiana. Just venting in frustration for our program
Listen, man. I understand our early losses were frustrating but you do understand that we were a three seed in the NCAA tournament just a few months ago and you’re comparing us to Indiana? Indiana hasn’t had a three seed or better in twelve years lol. Let’s calm down a tad.

We weren’t able to keep up with Duke in recruiting when we had the greatest recruiting coach of all time on our sidelines, so why in the world would anyone think putting eggs in that basket makes any sense? If we were going to do things that way, you should have never gotten rid of Calipari. Thankfully, there’s no good reason to think recruiting classes have anything to do with winning at a high level in college basketball these days.

IDK. I sure would have loved to have seen Caleb Wilson at UK this season and seen what a difference he could have made. I think Pope agreed because he went after him hard.

Maybe. But you also have to acknowledge that the last two times we had the top rivals recruiting class, 2020 and 2023 both led to serious failures. The 2020 class came to Kentucky and led the way to a 9-16 season in 2021. The 2023 class played zero defense on our way to losing in the 2024 first round to Oakland, which sealed Cal’s fate here. I’m just trying to be intellectually honest and not retcon those times where it was obvious that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose depending on a batch of toddlers, because they flop heavy and sometimes they are amazing. Build a steady program where you don’t have to depend on the children—- that’s what I want.

No. I guess I’m an idiot who saw that in the last ten years, literally no single team that had a top 5 HS recruiting class won a natty. But I’m sure that’s just a stupid point right?

"the last two times we had the top recruiting class" we had cal, who is known for wasting talent, our coach is pope, who is known for MAXIMIZING talent

Don’t miss the forest for the trees, man. Cal was a lot of the reason we had those classes. There isn’t another Calipari behind door number three. It was Kentucky and Duke #1 and #2 almost every single year while Cal was here for HS recruiting. Wasn’t an accident. Cal was a deficient coach and not my cup of tea but his recruiting is unmatched

But IMO Cal's trouble was he wanted a lineup of all freshmen. You can get 1 or 2 stud youngsters and surround them with nice veteran role players. I think that's what Pope has been trying for but hasn't been able to land 1 yet.

There’s literally no reason to suggest you need even one of them. I did the work myself to find that ZERO teams led by a OAD freshman have won a title in ten years. Furthermore, only 5% of starters on final four teams in that span were OAD freshmen. It isn’t needed whatsoever

well we beat them mainly bc it was their 3rd game together with a young talented group, which is why they made the f4 and we fizzled out earl

Ohhh ok.. it was our 3rd game as well with a whole new team I guess there are different type 3rd games?
UK also went to the Sw 16 missing an injured starter and several fighting injuries.

That’s the thing, man. I’m genuinely trying to help people like you in our fanbase. All we think about is recruiting, recruiting, recruiting. We think of the wrong things as answers to our issues. This is a whole new era in CBB

But recruiting is the big thing. I'm not just talking about high school but also portal players where Pope missed out on many of his top choices also.

No, just punks that don't have the balls to stick with their team through diversity and are to weak see it through to the end of the year before they write them off
You have been awfully negative here lately. That’s your right I guess. Just for the record, I am sticking by the team. Have season tickets in basketball, spending major bucks going to Gonzaga game, and putting in for SEC tourney tickets. The coach is not immune to criticism.
