What would it be like to have 1 big Duplin Co. High School for Football and etc? Schools like Richmond Co., Scotland Co., Hoke Co., and more dominate due to numbers and competition level. I think we could dominate Football in 4A or 4AA even 5A if that comes to pass with the county full of players/coaches we have. Could be the Alabama of high school football.

Hoke County doesn't dominate. They have a good season once in a while. Things even out when one county schools play each other and you find out what kind of athletes each county really has.

Rockingham and Rohanen had good teams before they became Richmond. Laurinburg was good before they became Scotland.

Duplin County has good athletes but would probably not dominate any more than Richmond or Scotland. Plus depending on if you are 4A or 4AA you have the Charlotte teams and Wake to contend with. I think Duplin County would have success but let's hold off on declaring domination.

One high school in Duplin County won't happen due to the size of the county and the distance the students would have to travel to get there. Too many parents will raise holy hell over that alone, not to mention the other parents who will scream that their schools' tradition will be lost and that their parents, grandparents, etc went to said school. Look at what happened when Duplin County schools proposed building a new high school by combining North Duplin and James Kenan. Larger numbers do not necessarily correlate to having better teams.
