well I will give my picks plus a little commentary that may or may not support my picks or is just food for thought for future weeks matchups.

MV at NC:
Two Interesting Tidbits:
* that MV put up 30+ points on NN!! is that due to MV finding their offensive groove OR is that due to a shaky NN defense?
* : Looking at the stats of NC offense - I would be a little worried if I was a Redhawk Fan. They were only able to generate 30 rushing yards on the Vaunted GBN defense in week 1 and a whopping 14 rushing yards against NV in week 2. They are putting a lot on the shoulders of their passing game at least early on with a lot of new Olinemen.. NV got pressure on NC QB in the second half of their game which disrupted their offense greatly (but didn't handle the Jordan Reed Bubble screens very well) - a road map to defend NC printed by the Wildcats? I'm still picking NC (and big): 38-10

WV at NV: sorry Anom - I can't pick the game for fear of the jinx. But I will offer some commentary:
* WV defended the Edge 1000% better in week 2 versus week 1. However that GBN offense is really really really (really) struggling at present. That was the best first half of football I have seen WV play in quite a while - they were jacked, they executed, and all 3 phases were doing well. I thought it was going to be a running clock game by the 4th quarter UNTIL the second half mistakes and turnovers popped up. Defense really got put in some bad spots and stood tall. Only reason GBN got a TD was our front 4 got a little gassed and GBN started getting 9-12 yards per play running chunks up the gut and by the time we rotated in a few fresh Dlineman - they were at our 1 and still got lucky to score via a missed tackle in the backfield.
* NV - Boy they made some great adjustments at half time against NC! They are a very solid team. We will know a lot more about NV and WV after this game I think. I will be very interested to see NV Oline vs WV Dline and vice versa.

GBN at WWS: Oh My - I think the loser of this game is basically out of the playoffs. It's a super low probability of running off 5 of 6 wins in the last 6 games in the DVC (I know it can happen - but I don't like the odds). Both teams should be Jacked and ready. I'm going to go with the home Team: WWS 21- GBN 3

WN at NN: Wow very intriguing Matchup.
* NN Offense is like the Hot knife Thru Butter
* NN Defense has been like the Butter placed in the microwave for 15 seconds.
* WN ball control offense can keep NN offense off the field if they are executing.
So it boils down to - can WN Defense get some stops against the NN offense?
I am going to say yes and I pick WN 31 NN 28 in a nail biter

LP at DeKalb: These teams played last year and LP came away victorious. I think LP goes to 3-0 this week and sets themselves up for a strong back half run in the DVC. LP 24 DeKalb 14

Okay I am going to try and go with scores this week:

MV @NC
Have to with NC 42 to 20. They (NC) probably thought their offense should have played better last week and are going to look to improve. NN gave them a lot of ideas for pass plays to run. MV's offense is starting to improve, however so could get closer late.
WV @ NV
WV 27 over NV 20.
One of three potential tight games this week. It rarely matters who is favored in this game because the rivalry is so intense. I picked WV to win the conference in the beginning so I am going to stay with them.
GN @ WWS
GN 17 over WWS 16
GN is still looking for their offense by trying different defensive players on offense, etc. Their defense is still super tough so this should be a very low scoring game.
WN @ NN
WN 35 over NN 31
These teams are complete opposites so it will be a very fun game to watch. I give the slight edge to WN because I believe their defense is a little better then NN's first two opponents.
LP @ Dekalb
Lake Park over the Barbs 35 to 14.
LP's line play is the key. They look very tough on both sides of the ball.

Voodoo... love you man but you have to pick the WV games, otherwise you risk being ineligible for the trophy presentation at seasons end. That being said, here are my thoughts...

NC over MV
Redhawks will roll. Their offense is fine, they just faced the two best defenses in the DVC, that is all. The most balanced team in the conference wins 42-0. Metea will not win a DVC game this year.

NV over WV
At this early stage in the season, I believe that Neuqua is the 2nd best team in the conference. Strong defense with the offense improving. The game is at Neuqua, and NV historically has had WV's number. Should be a close game- wouldn't be surprised if WV won, however.

WWS over GN
Man, this is a tough game to pick. Honestly I'm just flipping a coin- slight edge to WWS since their at home.

WN over NN
Two nice wins for the Falcons so far- clearly a better team than last year. Solid on both sides. Was hoping to see an improved Huskie defense this past Friday. Unfortunately, they looked terrible. The special teams are a major concern as well. NN does not have the depth of talent like last season. Fortunately they do have Nick Calcagno and Drake Davis, two D1 players that (hopefully) will keep the Huskies close. NN will need at least 42 points to win.

LP over DeKalb *
Nobody has picked DeKalb so far. I think they are better than most think and the game is in DeKalb. This would be considered an upset... the Barbs had the Falcons on the ropes last season. Should be a good game. If I get this pick wrong, I will declare a Voodoo mulligan- and insist it be rescinded as a Voodoo jinx. *Note: changed my pick to LP Friday 9:18 am.

Wait, WV and NV don't play at North Central?

Not anymore unfortunately. I heard two "rumors" as to why.
1. Metea thru a fit and had to get in the mix so it rotated for a couple years. Unfortunately, MV/WV and also MV/NV at north central is a half full stadium so that didn't work out very well.
2. North Central wanted a kings ransom and keep most/all the money for the WV/NV game played there and the administrations of NV and WV finally said "thanks but no thanks" we will go back to playing home and away and keep the money.

I'm willing to bet it was a combo of the two to some degree?

The bad news: Now the stadiums are sold out the same day as the presale which starts tomorrow and tons of people SOL

The good news: I heard WCIU is beoadcasting it - so all those that don't have a ticket can watch on TV. That reminds me - I need to find that thread of the WCIU thread. I wonder if they are going to re- broadcast it over the weekend like CN100 does?

I was wondering how they would do that whole Matea thing. I actually lived in Matea's district for a year or so, I guess I was a Mustang x2.

I think I like those games better at home anyways. Love WV's stadium. Did NC/NN also make the switch?

Yeah have to be fair and rotate it - but it doesn't have the same level of rivalry as it's still pretty new and doesn't have 20 plus years behind it like WV/NV does.

No i don't think any changes at the Naperville's. NN/NC still at North central.

New scoreboard at Dick Kerner this year as well!! I hear the videotron portion gets installed next year. Still Grass field which I LOVE!! I hope they keep it grass for awhile. I think NV/WV are two of the last holdouts that haven't converted to field turf. Metea has field turf and they were super nice to let Waubonsie practice there back in 2015 in November for the quarters and semi's with all the bad weather.

MV @ NC - NC rolls at home. AJ to have first big game of the year. NC wants to show they can run also,

WV @ NV - WV in a close one. Must avoid "blah" stretches like second half they had against GN.

GN @ WWS - WWS because this week they find a way to finish.

WN @ NN - WN

LP @ DeKalb - DeKalb - Lancer nation is somewhat shocked. Hope I'm wrong.

Hmm, will have to ponder that proposal. Pretty snake-bitten from last year.

Word of advice to NNFan: skip the NN/WN soph game. The WN sophs looked very good last week.....impressive size and speed.

And yet they are leaving the DVC because they don't think they can hang with us and the Valley schools in football. Total BS. NN sophs have been outscored 62-6 their first two games. Maybe if they beat us by 50 they will reconsider.

Is 43 points enough? I know I'm looking ahead of myself here but the Central game might be the best between the two in a decade.

So glad to see NN pull this game out (43-25) as they take a huge step towards making the playoffs. Still have the same concerns I did entering this game. Game closer than the score as the Huskies put 2 TD's on the board at the end. More thoughts later on the Falcons.

Falcons tie the game in the 2nd half basically running the ball down NN's throat. NN gets the ball and QB gets sacked twice for big losses. Finally looks shaken up. Time for WN to tighten the screws with the running game and take the lead. Start with the ball at midfield and what do they do on first and ten? Pass! Yes they passed on first and ten when NN couldn't stop their running game. Pass is intercepted. Defense that needed a rest has to go back on the field not really ready to go and NN gets a TD drive and all the momentum. That was the play of the game. Coaches outsmarting themselves. NN QB is for real. Took his bruises and came back and fought like a warrior. NN linebacker had probably 20 tackles.

The strategy blunder Has eerie similarities to another DVC game that was played tonite. Except for it being a close game and tied up :(

Agree with everything you said. That was the turning point. Also.. WN settling for two field goals while NN was putting TDs on the board. Can't beat NN with FGs. Was impressed with your pass D.
